On February 13.2, Hoan My ITO Dong Nai Hospital said doctors had just performed emergency surgery on a patient with intestinal obstruction due to swallowing apricot fruit.
Specifically, patient NNT (68 years old, living in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai) was admitted to the hospital with intermittent abdominal pain, severe abdominal distention, and difficulty defecating.
Through tests such as ultrasound, abdominal scan and abdominal CT, doctors discovered that the patient had small bowel obstruction. The patient received conservative treatment for 5 days but his condition did not improve.
On day 6, doctors discovered a foreign object moving in the small intestine. After taking the medical history again, the patient said that he had recently swallowed an apricot fruit but thought it had been digested.
Doctors prescribed emergency surgery and removed the apricot fruit (size 3cm x 2,5cm) from the patient's small intestine and moss fluid in the intestinal tract with a volume of nearly 1,5 liters. After surgery, the patient's health has stabilized.
