RT reported that Lieutenant Colonel Peter Milevchuk announced on January 18 that 15 German soldiers deployed to Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, had completed their reconnaissance mission. He added that cooperation with the Danish side was very positive and constructive.

Earlier, on January 14, Denmark announced it would hold a joint military exercise on the island of Greenland. Several European countries, including Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, and the United Kingdom, said they would participate, each sending between 1 and 15 soldiers.
This move comes after negotiations between Denmark, Greenland, and the United States ended with what officials described as a "fundamental disagreement" between the Trump administration and its European allies over Denmark's autonomous territory.
"The reconnaissance results will be analyzed in the coming days," Milevchuk said, adding that the group of soldiers had completed their mission.
In recent weeks, U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified efforts to bring Greenland under Washington's control, a goal he has pursued since his first term (2017-2021). Trump argues that the annexation is crucial to U.S. national security.
The White House chief also stated that Denmark's military presence in Greenland is insufficient to protect the world's largest island.
