With only about 10 days left before E10 bioethanol fuel is rolled out nationwide, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a document requesting localities to strengthen communication efforts to guide public opinion and disseminate accurate information about this type of fuel.

According to Official Letter No. 3673/BCT-ĐCK sent to the People's Committees of provinces and cities on May 22, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the Minister of Industry and Trade had previously issued Decision No. 3586/QĐ-BCT dated December 8, 2025, on the plan for disseminating the Circular stipulating the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam.

After nearly five months of implementation, communication efforts regarding E10 bioethanol fuel have yielded many positive results. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, media outlets have generally followed the Ministry's communication guidelines, focusing on promoting the use of E10 fuel as an inevitable trend to protect the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and fulfill Vietnam's commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that some opinions expressing concerns about the compatibility and safety of E10 gasoline for certain types of engines and vehicles still appear in the press and on social media.

According to the agency, without timely explanation and guidance, conflicting information could affect the nationwide deployment of biofuels.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct local press and media agencies, affiliated units, and key petroleum traders and distribution businesses in their areas to strengthen propaganda about the roadmap for the deployment of E10 gasoline in an objective, accurate manner and in accordance with the policies of the Party and the State.

The Ministry also proposed including the implementation of E10 gasoline in the weekly press briefing program to promptly guide information and public opinion.

According to Circular 50 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from June 1, 2026, E10 gasoline will be used nationwide for gasoline-powered vehicles. Meanwhile, E5 RON92 gasoline will continue to be used until December 31, 2030.
