The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a new journalist ID card template.

The press card for the 2026-2030 term will integrate a QR code to identify the cardholder's information. When the code is scanned, the system will display the card's validity status along with basic information that is updated in real time.

On May 29th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Decision No. 1246/QD-BVHTTDL promulgating the mẫu journalist card to be used during the 2026-2030 term.

According to the decision, the journalist's card for the 2026-2030 term will have dimensions of 85.725 mm long, 53.975 mm wide, and 0.76 mm thick, conforming to the ISO CR80 standard.

The card is made of PVC plastic, with a matte finish on both sides. In terms of appearance, the front of the card has a yellow background, with a lotus flower printed in the center, surrounded by bronze drum motifs.

The back of the card has a red background, and the information is displayed in both Vietnamese and English. On the front, in the upper left corner, is a 20 x 30 mm photograph of the cardholder.

Below the image is a QR code identifying the information of the press card holder. In the center of the card, above, is printed the words "PRESS CARD" in capital letters.

Below are the following information fields: “Full name”, “Pseudonym”, “Year of birth”, “Organization”. At the very bottom are the fields “Card number”, “Date of issue”, and “Date of expiry”.

At the bottom right edge of the card, the title and signature of the authorized signatory, along with the seal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, are displayed.

On the back, at the top is printed the words in capital letters: “SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM/SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM”. In the middle is the national emblem. The card background is red, with a bronze drum pattern, and below it is a lotus flower. Below the national emblem is the text in capital letters: “PRESS CARD/JOURNALIST CARD”.

The regulations also specify how information should be displayed on the journalist's card. Accordingly, the full name should be written in capital letters as in the application form for issuance or renewal of the card; the pen name and year of birth should be recorded as in the application form.

The "Agency" section is filled in according to the applicant's workplace as stated in their application. The journalist's card number consists of 9 digits randomly selected by the software system.

When scanned, the QR code on the card will display in real time information matching the database managing journalist cards, including the card's validity status, full name, media organization, and journalist card number.

According to regulations, press cards are valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.
