Respond in the interview with The Korea Herald, director Jang Jae Hyun said he had no intention of making a sequel.
“Actually, my filmmaking philosophy doesn't align with that. For me, only when I come across a good story do I intend to learn more about it and build a suitable story and character for the film.
So continuing to exploit for commercial success is not in my production plans. I just always remind myself that I have to make a movie that's fun to watch because I'm the first audience to see my movie."
Besides, talented director of Excavating ghosts' graves also share with The Korea Herald that he feels very happy to bring traditional culture closer to young Koreans and, more broadly, to international audiences.
“The topics of feng shui, traditional rituals and honoring ancestors are receiving public attention and are hotly discussed. That is the core that I want to bring through the film because those things are deeply attached to Korean culture."
