Nguyen Thi Van Anh and Ngo Huong Giang, both in class 12C at Son Dong No. 3 High School, shared that they had been preparing blankets, pillows, and mattresses since yesterday to go to Cam Dan Secondary School.
Before the official start of the 2025 high school graduation exam, nearly 30 parents and teachers from Son Dong No. 3 High School (Son Dong district, Bac Giang province) packed their bags and traveled by bus to Cam Dan Secondary School, about 20km away from their usual school, to stay and eat together during the exam days.
Mr. Pham Manh Hung, vice principal of Son Dong No. 3 High School, said that the weather has been unpredictable with rain and wind in recent days. To ensure the safety of students during the exam season, especially those living in hamlets and villages who have to cross rivers, streams, and flooded areas, the school administration and parents agreed to rent a bus to take 144 students to "stay in temporary accommodation".
Prior to the exam, the school worked with the Party Committee of Cam Dan commune to arrange medical staff and police officers to support the students and set up 14 spacious and clean classrooms. Knowing that the children were coming to take the exam, the surrounding households also brought local produce such as lychees and fresh vegetables to donate to the "field kitchen" run by the parents themselves.
"Because the students are living together, I and two other teachers have been assigned the task of closely monitoring the classes, ensuring that the students are reminded to maintain a regular, punctual, and safe routine throughout the exam period," Mr. Hung said.

Students bring blankets, mosquito nets, pillows, etc., to feel at home.

Ms. Hoang Thi Luong, secretary of the Youth Union of Son Dong 3 High School, shared that the students were very excited and confident before the exam day. Before boarding the bus to the exam accommodation, the school's Youth Union mobilized volunteer youth to accompany and assist students in moving their personal belongings and ensuring they had projectors ready.

"Many children shared that this is a memorable experience, marking the beginning of their journey away from their parents' embrace. For many of them, who usually go to school near their home, this is their first time going far away, so they are all very excited," said Ms. Hoang Thi Luong.

Students staying at Cam Dan Secondary School are on their way to register for the high school graduation exam, traveling along a road lined with lychee trees – a specialty crop of Bac Giang province.

Mr. Bui Van Toan, the parent of Bui Thao Van, shared that 100% of parents supported the plan to have their children stay in rented accommodation near the exam site because many students have difficult access to the exam area, having to cross dangerous streams and culverts, which are impassable during high tides. "Beforehand, the parent committee and the school administration met to discuss the menu for the children, ensuring it was clean and nutritious. On the first day, parents prepared many hearty dishes for their children, such as boiled chicken, fried pork, stir-fried water spinach, steamed shrimp, etc.," Mr. Toan said.

Ms. Pham Thi Oanh, the parent of Lao Truc Thy, shared that each family has its own circumstances; some are civil servants, others are farmers. It's currently lychee season here, but everyone makes time to bring their children down to their rented accommodation or takes advantage of the late afternoon to visit and check on them. Today, the parents prepared over 30kg of fresh chicken, 25kg of pork, and 13kg of shrimp... to treat their children to the best meal possible.

"Initially, some well-off families wanted to bring their children themselves, but the parent committee and the school encouraged and explained the situation reasonably, and 100% agreed to let their children stay and eat at the school. Many children live far away and have to cross streams, and every time it rains heavily, the road gets flooded, sometimes the water level is up to a meter high, like in Ga Village, Neo Village, and Thanh Ha Village. The children stay at the school, 'lodging,' with parents looking after them, taking care of their meals and sleep so they can focus on their exams," Ms. Oanh shared.

At 5:30 PM, as the sun began to set, long lines of students streamed down to the multi-purpose gymnasium, lining up at tables like they were at a feast, enjoying the delicious dishes their parents had lovingly prepared all day.
