On March 12th, Donnarumma became the hero in PSG's dramatic penalty shootout victory over Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Anfield. This result helped the Ligue 1 representatives advance to the quarter-finals convincingly.

Donnarumma's brilliant performance opened up an opportunity for him to stay at PSG. Before the match, the French media criticized and labeled the Italian international as a "villain" for his poor performance in the first leg against Liverpool.

Enzo Raiola, Donnarumma's representative, shared: "We have no conflict with the club. I have to do everything for the player's benefit. The only club Gianluigi wants to play for is PSG. His priority is to extend his time playing in Paris."

In recent months, negotiations between PSG and Donnarumma have stalled. The French club considered contract renewal dependent on performance in the Champions League.
