Proud achievement
Kinh Mon town has an area of about 165.34 km2 , with a permanent population of over 180,000 people. Located in the northeast of Hai Duong province, Kinh Mon is located near the northern economic centers (Hai Phong, Quang Ninh). The urban area has a vital traffic system: provincial roads 389, 389B, national highway 17B connecting national highway 18 and national highway 5... These are important traffic routes of Hai Duong province and the northern economic key region. As the gateway of the province, Kinh Mon is identified as one of the four dynamic urban areas of Hai Duong.
With its advantages and available potentials, Kinh Mon has oriented and focused resources on building new rural areas. In 2017, Kinh Mon was the first district of Hai Duong province to reach the new rural area goal and the 38th new rural district in the country.
After reaching the new rural finish line, Kinh Mon established a project, proposed specific directions and solutions to build Kinh Mon district into a town. In September 2019, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 768/NQ-UBTVQH14 on the establishment of Kinh Mon town and wards and communes under Kinh Mon town.
Promoting the achieved results, Kinh Mon town continues to focus resources on building and upgrading Kinh Mon town to meet the criteria of a type III urban area.
On average, in the 3 years from 2021 to 2023, the town's economic growth reached 9.39%, especially in 2024 it reached 11.7%, exceeding the plan by 2%. The economic structure has shifted towards increasing the proportion of industry, services, and trade, reducing the proportion of agricultural production. Average income per capita in 2024 reached 8.5 million VND/month, an increase of 0.83 million VND/month compared to 2023. The poverty rate in the town is 0.93%, a decrease of 0.42%... Cultural and social aspects have developed stably, the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved...
Development Leverage
Along with the investment attention of the province combined with local internal resources, the process of building a type III urban area, Kinh Mon has created important premises as a lever for the overall socio-economic development of the whole town.
In addition to the existing traffic system, there are many projects that have been and are being built in the area: The traffic route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge, Kinh Mon Town; the route connecting National Highway 17B (Hai Duong Province) with Provincial Road 352 (Hai Phong City) from National Highway 17B to Kinh Thay River Dike, Kinh Mon Town; the route and Van Bridge connecting National Highway 37 (Chi Linh City) with the approach road to Trieu Bridge (Kinh Mon); Kinh Mon River overpass and the approach road connecting the interchange with National Highway 5; the road connecting Kinh Mon River overpass with Provincial Road 389B; the interchange connecting National Highway 17B with National Highway 5, Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway, Hai Duong Province.
The above projects aim to gradually complete the regional traffic system according to the planning; expand the urban development space of Kinh Mon town; form an inter-regional traffic axis connecting Hai Duong with Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong; attract investment, create momentum for socio-economic development of the town.
In particular, the interchange project connecting National Highway 17B with National Highway 5, Hanoi - Hai Phong railway, Hai Duong province not only connects the traffic network of Kinh Mon town with National Highway 5, Kim Thanh district and neighboring districts but also gradually completes the traffic route connecting Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway with National Highway 18, which is of great significance in expanding the space for socio-economic development of Kinh Mon town in particular and Hai Duong province in general.
In recent years, the town has paid special attention to urban management, investment and development. Kinh Mon has planned 6 sub-zones according to the general planning of the inner city area including: existing urban sub-zone, gateway urban area, central urban area, northwest industrial urban area, ecological urban area, western industrial urban area to expand the urban space of the town. The locality has implemented investment to complete the infrastructure system of new urban areas, plan rural areas in suburban areas, creating a premise for urban development in the following years.
Kinh Mon currently has 4 industrial clusters Long Xuyen, Duy Tan, Phu Thu, Hiep Son basically filled; 4 industrial clusters have been established: An Phu, Thang Long, That Hung, Quang Trung. Along with the synchronous completion of infrastructure of the above industrial clusters, Kinh Mon has gradually transformed the technology of factories in the area, especially construction material factories, minimizing environmental pollution. Attracting high-tech, modern, sustainable industrial production sectors.
In particular, Kinh Mon town is the first locality in Hai Duong to implement the Project of Building a logistics service center, port, oil depot and commercial service area, with a scale of 50 hectares, total investment of 1,400 billion VND. The project is implemented in Minh Hoa commune, with the significance of developing the province's logistics service industry, transforming the economic structure, and increasing budget revenue.
In agriculture, along with traditional products such as onions, garlic, cassava, yellow sticky rice, and OCOP products, the town aims to develop agriculture in a new direction - experience, organic agriculture right in Bach Dang commune.
In order to exploit the available tourism potential to the fullest, Kinh Mon has completed the planning project for the conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of historical relics and national special landscapes of An Phu - Kinh Chu - Nham Duong complex with an area of 1,800 hectares. The town also has two relics, Nham Duong pagoda and Kinh Chu cave, which are included in the dossier of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac complex submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage site. This is an important premise for Kinh Mon to further develop cultural, historical and spiritual tourism.
In the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Kinh Mon town will continue to strive to soon realize the goal of building the town into a provincial city before 2030.
On September 16, 2024, the Ministry of Construction issued Decision No. 858/QD-BXD recognizing Kinh Mon town, Hai Duong province as a type III urban area.
On December 11, 2024, the President decided to award the Second Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Kinh Mon town. This is an important milestone in the development process and the result of tireless efforts, and at the same time a great encouragement and motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Kinh Mon town.
