This morning (October 17th), the Economic & Urban Newspaper officially launched its integrated newsroom and digital ecosystem. This is not only a technological breakthrough but also aims to improve content quality and provide a better experience for readers.

Regarding the digital transformation of journalism, on December 20, 2023, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Economic & Urban Newspaper to pilot a typical digital transformation model, specifically digital transformation in management and operation within the agency, applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology solutions, chatbots, virtual reality, etc. Following the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee, the Economic & Urban Newspaper promptly completed the Digital Transformation Project for the Economic & Urban Newspaper for the period 2023-2025 and orientation to 2030. Specifically, in 2024, this includes the operation of a converged newsroom and digital ecosystem.

The converged newsroom and digital ecosystem of the Economic & Urban Newspaper is not simply a combination of multiple publishing and information distribution channels, but an intelligent and flexible ecosystem that helps the Economic & Urban Newspaper achieve the highest efficiency in journalistic economics in the digital age. The application of AI, data journalism, and modern management tools not only optimizes workflows but also helps create high-quality journalistic products that meet the increasingly diverse and rich needs of readers.

According to Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper, the integrated newsroom of the Economic & Urban Newspaper will be able to publish on multiple platforms, integrating various forms of journalism such as print, online, and specialized online pages with many outstanding technological features to optimize workflows. It allows reporters and editors to manage, edit, and publish content on both print and online newspapers, specialized online pages, and digital ecosystems (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Zalo, etc.) from a single interface and login account, supporting multiple languages, formats, and high customization capabilities.

Furthermore, all specialized departments can monitor progress, exchange ideas, and coordinate in news production. The Editorial Board acts as a coordinator, ensuring that all works are of high quality and published on time. The integration of advanced technology and content production according to digital journalism trends not only meets the needs of readers but also helps the newsroom enhance its competitiveness.

"Essentially, a converged newsroom platform will be a place where all the tools, platforms, data, business processes, and organizational management of a news agency "converge." From there, it optimizes the content production process, improves organizational efficiency, and minimizes costs and manpower. This can be summarized in four main aspects: Content Management System (CMS); Business Processes; Artificial Intelligence Integration; and Professional Print Page Design Integration," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper, one of the outstanding features of the newspaper's converged newsroom system is the integration of electronic office with advanced cloud storage technology. Tasks such as managing and sharing documents, approving official letters, internal reports, and signing are all digitized and synchronized on a single system, eliminating the need for paper.

The new system is developed for both desktop and mobile versions, allowing journalists and reporters to access the system anytime, anywhere, using only a smartphone to write articles, track work, and receive relevant notifications easily.

In the field of advertising management, especially digital advertising, the digital ecosystem of the Economic & Urban Newspaper can directly manage advertising contracts, the number of articles per contract, the number of banners per contract, contract value, amount paid, list of contracts awaiting approval, and list of approved contracts. In addition, the digital ecosystem of the Economic & Urban Newspaper also develops an online newspaper publishing platform, helping media organizations collect fees and manage readers through PDF publishing on the platform.
