Officials at An Hoa Cultural Park used electric shock devices to capture an escaped crocodile on the morning of October 13th.
According to Le Quang Nghia, director of An Hoa Cultural Park, three days ago, people exercising at An Hoa Cultural Park spotted a crocodile within the park grounds and reported it to park staff, who then captured it.
Later, the patrolling security force discovered and captured another crocodile. Each crocodile weighed nearly 20kg.
“Yesterday afternoon, October 12th, park staff, in coordination with relevant authorities, pumped out the ponds and conducted a count, discovering that 6 out of the 44 crocodiles kept at the park were missing. Park staff have captured and recovered 2 crocodiles. Currently, 4 crocodiles are still at large,” Mr. Nghia said.
According to Mr. Nghia, these crocodiles were raised by the park for visitors many years ago. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and the zoo was dissolved, 44 crocodiles remained at the park because there was no plan to dispose of them.

The park, in coordination with local authorities and the Forest Protection Department, is urgently searching for and capturing the remaining four crocodiles. The park has also placed warning signs in areas where crocodiles are likely to appear within the park grounds.
Businesses, residents living around the park, and people visiting the park for recreation and exercise should be cautious. If they spot a crocodile, they should avoid approaching it and report it immediately to the authorities.
