
Singer Hoang Hac when he was young.
On March 20th, his remains were cremated at the Hoan Vu Crematorium in Da Lat. He passed away on March 18th in Da Lat after many years of treatment for age-related illnesses. He was 81 years old.

Singer Hoang Hac (real name Hoang Trong Hat, born in 1945) is the eldest son of the famous writer and translator Thanh Nghi of the 1940s, who after 1975 served as Deputy Minister of Culture. He is the older brother of Dr. Hoang Thi Hanh (wife of author Le Duy Hanh – former Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, former President of the Ho Chi Minh City Stage Artists Association) and Ms. Hoang Thi Thuong – former director of Hoa Binh Theater, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

Singer Hoang Hac rose to fame in the 1960s on major stages in Saigon such as Maxim's, Au Chalet, Paramount, and Peacock. He performed with the Khanh Bang - Phung Trong band, which was popular at the time, along with singers Ngoc My and Kieu Loan. After 1975, singer Hoang Hac performed on the Bong Hong Opera Troupe stage.

Back then, theatrical performances followed 40-minute musical shows featuring singers such as Hoang Hac, Nguyen Chanh Tin, Bich Tram, Bang Chau, Thao Ly, Thuy Lan, and Huyen Tran… Composer Phung Trong commented: "Hoang Hac was an intellectual singer. His proficiency in foreign languages was an advantage, allowing him to sing and translate many Vietnamese songs. Furthermore, his sense of style and stage presence left a positive impression on the audience. Young people at that time admired Hoang Hac's fashion sense."
In 1978, singer Hoang Hac and his wife emigrated to France. They traveled frequently between France and Vietnam, but in recent years he returned to Vietnam and lived a secluded life in Da Lat, his hometown. Dr. Hoang Thi Hanh stated that in his final years, he spent his retirement in Da Lat, living peacefully with his family.
Singer Le Tuan shared on his personal page that he was a spiritual brother who offered advice and wholeheartedly supported and loved him from the time he became a famous singer on the stage of Hoa Binh Theater in 1986. "I will always respect and remember his profound words of encouragement," singer Le Tuan shared.
