- Twenty years in the profession has been a challenging yet passionate and fulfilling artistic journey for an artist. Thu Phuong, could you share a little about this journey?
- It must be said that for an artist as passionately devoted to her craft as Phuong, it has been an incredibly challenging journey. Despite facing numerous obstacles, after more than 20 years, Phuong still feels very happy to be an artist, to still be alive, to contribute, and to pursue music . Even now, Phuong believes that despite the difficulties, if she continues to nurture her dreams and remain passionate, nothing is impossible. Music is no longer simply a source of livelihood, but a friend that can relieve all emotions and feelings, a source of joy that she can enjoy in this life.
As everyone knows, Thu Phuong suffered from vocal cord nodules and had to undergo surgery. At that time, she could barely speak, let alone sing, but she persevered with her dream. Although she worked in many different fields, she eventually returned to music. In 2024, Phuong had a busy year with her own mini-shows and the release of the music video "Mother's Dream" with her two close friends, Tung Duong and Khanh Linh. Reuniting with colleagues and fellow artists and performing again was an immeasurable joy and happiness for her return to music.
- Having achieved success as a singer after the " Hanoi's Best Voice" competition in 2004, "Sao Mai" in 2007, and "Sao Mai Rendezvous" in 2008, why did you move to the South?
- Actually, at that time, no artist pursuing their dream of becoming a professional singer and further developing their career would want to move to the South. And perhaps, if Thu Phượng had been determined to pursue this plan after the "Sao Mai Rendezvous" in 2008, her life and career might be different now. However, things fell apart at that time. In 2012, Thu Phượng still wanted to pursue her dream again, even though she had just given birth and things were more difficult, but in the end, she still chose to move to the South. Perhaps her destiny is tied to this place.
- How has your life and music career in Ho Chi Minh City differed from when you were in Hanoi?
- Currently, Thu Phuong is teaching vocal music in Ho Chi Minh City and is very passionate about this job. Phuong gets to work with music while also communicating and interacting with young people in the 4.0 era. Creating lessons and guiding students to become professional and ethical artists and singers is what Phuong always strives for.
This is a job that Phuong knows for sure contributes to giving value to the community, with the potential to be replicated and spread. Music can help young people heal their souls, bringing happiness, faith, and hope to the community. That's why Phuong truly loves this meaningful work.
- With your recent music projects, Thu Phuong appears very fresh and impressive. What led to this change?
- Thu Phuong hopes that in addition to supporting the children, she will also be able to create some meaningful programs for herself. Last year, Thu Phuong organized the music program "A Thousand Wishes" with GenZ youth to share with child cancer patients at Children's Hospital 2. That was a meaningful and humane program.
Phuong's life is now completely intertwined with music. She is joyful and passionately dedicates herself to giving and spreading it. Perhaps Phuong has found the meaning of life and found complete happiness, the value of living each day.
- What are singer Thu Phượng's plans for the future?
- Phuong has many plans, but at over 40 years old, she thinks it's necessary to build a more sustainable career and enjoy her work with passion. Every day, she plans what she can accomplish, what she has sown to the best of her ability, and whether she has lived with it fully. She does one small but meaningful thing each day, especially in the realm of music.
