Ride-hailing companies are increasing fares and fees.

The company stated that the adjustments are aimed at offsetting operating costs and improving partner driver income by approximately 2-11% per trip or order.

According to the new fare schedule, motorbike services cost a minimum of over 13,800 VND for the first 2 km, while taxi fares range from 31,000 VND to 38,000 VND for the initial distance. Previously, Grab also increased fees on many services from the beginning of May. Businesses stated that the fee increase aims to maintain the system, upgrade technology, and expand driver support programs. It also reflects a trend towards rebalancing operating costs, driver income, and service quality.

The increase in fares by these platforms means higher costs per trip or order. For businesses that utilize these services, especially the restaurant industry, this adjustment will impact both users and restaurant partners. Experts suggest that F&B businesses need to approach online food delivery apps in a balanced way, viewing them as a supplementary channel to expand their customer base rather than relying entirely on them. In addition, they should invest in customer experience – a key factor in determining repeat business and the long-term value of their brand.

Analysts believe that Vietnam's ride-hailing market is entering a phase where financial efficiency is prioritized over expansion at all costs. As cost pressures increase, businesses are forced to find ways to improve revenue per order.

Instead of focusing solely on subsidies to gain market share as before, businesses are now prioritizing: maximizing profits, retaining drivers, investing in operational systems, expanding delivery services, and developing digital finance. This means consumers will likely no longer enjoy the prolonged period of "low prices" seen in previous years.
