VN-Index rose, but red still dominated.

Despite the VN-Index reversing its downward trend after two consecutive days of decline, red still dominated the market.

VN-Index rose, but red still dominated.

The trading session on Monday, May 25th, saw a sharp decrease in liquidity, indicating that investors remain cautious about investing in stocks.

Real estate stocks leaned towards the green. Notably, the three Vingroup stocks surged, with VRE increasing by 3.47%, VHM by 3.19%, and VIC by 1.06%. This group alone contributed approximately 11 points to the VN-Index, while the overall index only increased by nearly 9 points.

The financial sector stocks, including banks and securities companies, also regained their positive momentum. Many bank stocks saw significant gains, contributing to the VN-Index's upward trend, such as ACB (up 3.06%), HDB (up 2.13%), EIB (up 1.42%),SHB (up 1.11%), LPB (up 1.5%), VIB (up 1.27%), and SSB (up 2.99%).

Conversely, oil and gas stocks were heavily sold off, experiencing sharp declines across the board. BSR fell 5.05%, PLX 5.36%, PVS 4.76%, PVD 4.91%, PVT 4.97%, and OIL 5.77%...

Several other stock groups, such as materials and information technology, also leaned into the red. Many stocks fell by more than 2%, including DCM down 3%, GVR down 2.83%, FPT down 2.13%, etc.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 8.9 points, or 0.47%, to 1,886.03 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 129 gainers, 174 losers, and 72 stocks unchanged.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 4.29 points, or 1.6%, to 271.8 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 59 gainers, 65 losers, and 68 stocks that remained unchanged.

Liquidity decreased sharply, with the total trading value on the HOSE exchange reaching only nearly 19,000 billion VND, a decrease of more than 3,300 billion VND compared to the previous session. Including the HNX exchange, the total market liquidity was still less than 20,000 billion VND.

Foreign investors continued their net selling streak for the third consecutive session on the HOSE exchange, with a total net selling value of nearly 1,588 billion VND. MSB continued to experience strong net selling, nearly 1,484 billion VND; followed by HPG with over 212 billion VND and ACB with nearly 136 billion VND.
