Projects that bring traditional culture into contemporary life often originate from young people who deeply love the unique cultural characteristics of their country. One example is the "National Colors" project initiated by Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu.

As a lover of folk art, Ms. Huu collaborated with students from universities in Hanoi , skillfully and creatively incorporating three representative Vietnamese folk art styles—Dong Ho paintings, Hang Trong paintings, and Kim Hoang paintings—into products such as lanterns, table lamps, bags, cups, thermos flasks, and learning materials, to meet customer needs.

“My project recruits young people who love fine arts and folk culture to combine new ideas; based on advice from artisans in traditional craft villages, to create products that both possess traditional values and reflect modern life. Our main target customers are restaurants, resorts, and cultural spaces,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu.

Tired City (Hanoi) is a company specializing in the production and distribution of gift items, souvenirs, clothing, stationery, etc., founded by Nguyen Viet Nam (born in 1993).

As someone deeply concerned with spreading traditional culture in modern life, Nguyen Viet Nam has realized his dream by collaborating with nearly 200 young artists to create thousands of innovative and practical products that are deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.

For example, in "Traditional Tones," with its adorable chibi drawing style combined with minimalist graphic language, this collection incorporates images of six distinctive traditional Vietnamese art forms such as ca trù, chèo, tuồng, etc., onto clothing and handbags.

Besides creating products, Nguyen Viet Nam has also organized many other creative cultural events for the community, aiming to widely spread traditional culture to the public domestically and to foreign tourists.

The project "Echoes - From the Nine Dynastic Urns of the Nguyen Dynasty to Contemporary Creation" is a passionate project researched and developed by Associate Professor, Dr. Trang Thanh Hien along with young artists and students from the Vietnam Fine Arts University.

The Nine Bronze Tripods are a special heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty (recognized as a National Treasure in 2012), consisting of nine bronze tripods cast by Emperor Minh Mang in 1835. All the bronze carvings on the Nine Tripods seem to encapsulate an "encyclopedia" of a wealthy and prosperous Dai Nam nation under Emperor Minh Mang's reign.

Associate Professor, Dr. Trang Thanh Hien, the project leader, shared: "We combine modern techniques with historical values to create a series of woodblock prints inspired by the 162 bronze castings on the Nine Tripods."

In addition, with the participation of Bat Trang ceramic artisans, for the first time, the exquisite motifs on the Nine Tripods are vividly recreated on tea sets, bowls, and plates, creating a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Ly, Vice President of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association: Projects that exploit the values of cultural and historical heritage to create new values - derivative products - are precisely the products of the cultural industry.

This is in line with the spirit of the Law on Cultural Heritage and the spirit of the Party's resolution on the strategy for developing the country's cultural industry. It's encouraging that more and more young people are participating in this endeavor.

With their adaptability, talent, creativity, and rapid access to modern technology, young people have been actively contributing to the preservation of traditional culture through their own unique approaches, helping to revitalize, renew, and attract more public attention to old values.

Artworks inspired by the Nine Dynastic Urns of the Nguyen Dynasty; souvenirs based on folk paintings; or ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dresses) inspired by national treasures… have not only been well-received by domestic customers, but have also traveled with tourists to many countries around the world , contributing to the promotion of the country's culture and tourism.
