Projects that bring traditional culture into contemporary life often originate from young people who love the country's unique cultural features. One example is the project "National Color" initiated by Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu.

As a lover of folk paintings, Ms. Huu has collaborated with students from universities in Hanoi , skillfully and stylized to bring three typical Vietnamese folk paintings, Dong Ho, Hang Trong and Kim Hoang, to products such as lanterns, table lamps, bags, cups, thermoses, learning equipment, etc. to meet the consumer needs of customers.

“My project selects young people who love fine arts and folk culture to combine new ideas; based on advice from artisans in craft villages to create products that both have traditional values and a breath of modern life. Our main customers are restaurants, resorts and cultural spaces,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Huu shared.

Tired City (Hanoi) is a unit specializing in the production and distribution of gift products, souvenirs, costumes, stationery... founded by Nguyen Viet Nam (born in 1993).

As someone who is always concerned with spreading traditional culture in modern life, Nguyen Viet Nam has realized his dream by collaborating with nearly 200 young artists to create thousands of creative products with practical applications, imbued with Vietnamese culture.

For example, in “Traditional tones”, with a cute chibi drawing style combined with minimalist graphic language, this collection brings images of six typical traditional art forms of Vietnam such as ca tru, cheo, tuong… onto costumes and bags.

Besides creating products, Nguyen Viet Nam has also organized many other creative cultural events for the community, aiming to widely spread traditional culture to the domestic public and foreign tourists.

The project “Echoes - from the Nine Dynastic Urns of the Nguyen Dynasty to contemporary creation” is a passionate project researched and developed by Associate Professor, Dr. Trang Thanh Hien, young artists and students of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

The Nine Tripod Cauldrons are a special heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty (recognized as a National Treasure in 2012), which are nine bronze cauldrons cast by King Minh Mang in 1835. All the bronze carvings on the Nine Tripod Cauldrons seem to have generalized into an "encyclopedia" about a rich and prosperous Dai Nam nation under King Minh Mang.

Associate Professor, Dr. Trang Thanh Hien, Project Manager, shared: We combine modern techniques with historical values to create a set of woodcuts inspired by the model of 162 bronze casts on the Nine Tripod Cauldrons.

In addition, with the participation of Bat Trang ceramic artisans, for the first time the sophisticated motifs on the Nine Tripod Cauldrons were also vividly reproduced on tea sets, bowls and plates, creating a unique combination of tradition and modernity.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Ly, Vice President of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association: Projects that exploit traditional cultural and historical heritage values to create new values - derivative products, are products of the cultural industry.

This is a very true action in line with the spirit of the Law on Cultural Heritage, in line with the spirit of the Party's resolution on the strategy for developing the country's cultural industry. The encouraging sign is that more and more young people are participating in this work.

With flexible adaptation, talent, creativity and quick access to modern technology, young people have been actively contributing to the preservation of traditional culture in their own ways, helping to revive old values, renew them and attract more public attention.

Artworks inspired by the Nine Dynastic Urns of the Nguyen Dynasty; souvenirs from folk paintings; or Ao Dai inspired by national treasures... are not only welcomed by domestic customers, but have also followed tourists to many countries around the world , contributing to the promotion of the country's culture and tourism.
