Many people have a habit of calling back immediately when they see a missed call from an unknown number, inadvertently falling victim to scams. For a quick check, you can use the Truecaller app to verify the caller's identity.
Truecaller will display the name, trust level, and a warning if the number has been flagged by the community as spam or scam. Additionally, you can check the phone number on the Whitepages website to see which organization it belongs to and whether it has been reported.
If you suspect a call is spam or a scam, you should immediately report it to the toll-free number 156 of the Telecommunications Authority. Simply compose a text message using the appropriate syntax and send it to 156, or call directly for assistance. In particular, avoid calling back unfamiliar international numbers such as +224, +231, +252… as you may incur unnecessary charges due to high call fees.
With just a few simple steps, you can protect yourself from risky and annoying calls. Readers are invited to watch the following video : Online kidnapping scam scenario that "manipulates the psychology" of many victims | VTV24
