On the morning of April 5, comrade Nguyen The Giang, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting on Demarcating prohibited areas and temporarily banning mineral activities in the province. Attending the meeting were leaders of departments, branches, district and city People's Committees; and consulting units.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Giang chaired the meeting.

According to the report of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the mineral resources in the province are very diverse, divided into mineral groups: Fuel (coal, brown coal); metals (iron, manganese, titanium, lead - zinc...); industrial minerals (barite, clay, kaolin and dolomite); construction materials (limestone, construction sand, gravel and brick clay); mineral water - hot water. In the province, there are 200 mines, mining points, 86 mineral points, points showing mineralization.

Up to now, many years after the Prohibited Areas, Temporarily Prohibited Mineral Activities in the Province were approved, many contents and areas need to be adjusted and supplemented to comply with the provisions of the 2010 Mineral Law and the actual situation as well as the approved planning of the province. Therefore, the province is building and completing the Project on Delimiting Prohibited Areas, Temporarily Prohibited Mineral Activities in the Province, in order to adjust and supplement the prohibited areas, temporarily prohibit mineral activities in the area, while still ensuring the set socio -economic development goals.

The results identified 1,910 areas where mineral activities are prohibited, with a total area of over 220,250 hectares; there are no areas where mineral activities are temporarily prohibited in the province.

Leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment presented the project content.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and requesting the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the consulting unit to clarify related contents: Legal bases for delimiting prohibited areas and temporarily prohibited mineral activities, especially the delimited areas of areas with religious and belief facilities; reviewing the delimited areas of traffic corridors, areas with special-use forests and protective forests, protection corridors of irrigation dams and hydroelectric dams, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Giang affirmed that the mining industry is one of the important resources contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. However, to protect and effectively exploit resources, there must be fundamental and specific solutions. Demarcating prohibited areas and temporarily banning mineral activities in the province is the legal basis for the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies, district and city People's Committees in the management and protection work; licensing, exploration, exploitation and processing of minerals without overlapping with the economic development planning of the province...

The comrade requested that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment receive the delegates’ comments to supplement and complete the project. The consulting unit coordinates with relevant localities and sectors to review the demarcated areas to ensure compliance with reality…/.
