(HNMO) - On June 16, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, organized a seminar titled "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Social Sciences and Humanities: Trends and Approaches".
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy affirmed that the Ministry of Science and Technology is very concerned about ethical and legal issues related to AI.
Deputy Minister Bui The Duy outlined four groups of issues requiring research: Integrating research results from social sciences and humanities into AI development research, such as emotions, psychology, images, and videos ; establishing ethical and legal standards in the construction and application of AI in social life; assessing the social impact (on individuals) of widespread AI application in life, thereby proposing appropriate solutions in AI research and application; and applying AI to promote output results in social sciences and humanities research.
At the seminar, experts and scientists exchanged and discussed issues such as: the role of social sciences and humanities, research directions and challenges related to AI; the application of AI and intelligent interaction in the preservation of traditional culture; the national artificial intelligence strategy to 2030, the application of AI in social sciences and humanities; and artificial intelligence in social sciences and humanities: scope of application, challenges and directions.
Concluding the seminar, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat stated that research and application of AI has been a strong trend in recent times. Vietnam also has an AI development strategy. However, issues related to the impact of AI research and application on society and people are currently receiving less attention than the technological aspects.
According to the Minister, the seminar highlighted the impact of AI on society, people, and scientific research, including both positive and negative aspects. "We can see even more clearly the necessity of building a legal framework for the research and application of AI in daily life," the Minister emphasized.
The Minister suggested that the relevant departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology organize the development of science and technology tasks related to AI in the field of social sciences and humanities, especially within national-level science and technology programs. Particular attention should be paid to research on the legal, ethical, and impact aspects of artificial intelligence.
