On October 17, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command (VCG) held a conference to disseminate and deploy the plan "Continue to launch a peak period of fierce and determined fight to prevent and end the situation of fishing vessels violating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing from October 15 to November 15, 2025.
Major General Vu Trung Kien, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Law, chaired the conference at the Hanoi capital bridge point. Also attending the conference at the online bridge points were representatives of ministries, branches, Coast Guard Regions, representatives of coastal local authorities, and relevant functional forces.

The conference continued to launch a peak period of fierce struggle, determined to prevent and end the situation of fishing vessels violating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
In recent times, the Coast Guard agencies and units have closely coordinated with the coordinating forces, functional agencies of ministries, sectors and local authorities in coastal areas to synchronously, comprehensively and resolutely deploy tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing. Thereby, promptly reducing the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels violating foreign waters and being arrested and handled by foreign authorities.
However, there are still many fishing vessels using sophisticated tricks to violate IUU fishing. According to statistics from the Vietnam Coast Guard, from the beginning of 2025 to now, 25 Vietnamese fishing vessels have violated illegal fishing and trading of seafood in foreign waters, and have been arrested and handled by foreign authorities; 50 fishing vessels seriously violating IUU fishing have been arrested by the Coast Guard and brought ashore for handling.

In the coming time, the Vietnam CBS Command has proposed a number of specific contents and tasks. In particular, the focus is to resolutely and flexibly deploy measures and plans for patrolling, inspecting and controlling in sea areas, especially in overlapping sea areas and border sea areas; focus on leading, directing and organizing the use of forces to launch synchronously, resolutely and resolutely prevent and end the situation of fishing vessels violating IUU fishing. In particular, strictly control fishing vessels that lose VMS signal connection, fishing vessels that remove and receive VMS devices, fishing vessels that cross the border to operate in foreign waters...
Units focus on promoting propaganda against IUU fishing through new, creative and effective forms and contents of propaganda suitable to the actual conditions of the unit, to warn and deter vehicle owners and fishermen.
