The 2025 Asian Canoeing Championship in China ended on May 10. The Vietnamese canoeing team achieved impressive results: 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, ranking 3rd overall.
The precious gold medal came from the C4 Mix event. The Vietnamese canoeing team excelled over strong opponents from China and Kazakhstan to win.
The four athletes who brought home this precious gold medal are Pham Hong Quan, Bui Thi Yen, Ma Thi Thuy, and Hien Nam. This achievement is also a worthy reward for their efforts over the past time.
In the C2 women's 1,000m event, the duo Nguyen Thi Huong and Nguyen Hong Thai competed with great determination. In the end, they only lost to the Chinese team and won the silver medal, surpassing the North Korean team.
Meanwhile, in the women's 500m C1 event, rower Diep Thi Huong shone with a silver medal, ranking just behind the Chinese athlete and surpassing her opponent Kazakhstan.
The third silver medal was won by rowers Diep Thi Huong and Nguyen Thi Huong in the C2 500m event.
The fourth silver medal in the C1 500m category went to rower Nguyen Hong Thai. Meanwhile, the only bronze medal of the Vietnamese canoeing team went to two athletes Nguyen Thi Huong - Diep Thi Huong, in the C2 200m category.
The impressive achievements in this year's tournament are considered an important stepping stone for the team towards major tournaments such as the Asiad and Olympics in the future.
