When will tolls start being collected on the expressway from Vinh Hao to Dau Giay?

The investors of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressways have announced their readiness to officially launch the toll collection system from the beginning of March 2026.

The plan is to start collecting fees from the beginning of March 2026.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Pham Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 7 ( Ministry of Construction ), said that the electronic toll collection (ETC), weight control, and intelligent traffic management (ITS) systems on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section of the expressway have been stable during the recent trial period.

According to Mr. Huy, contractors are currently conducting final equipment checks and completing procedures so that Project Management Board 7 can report to the Ministry of Construction for acceptance and official commissioning as planned in early March 2026.

In addition to the ITS system installed on the main highway, the other two systems are located at interchanges and entrances. At the highway entrances, the investor has also arranged additional exits for vehicles found to be overloaded.

Similarly, a representative from the Thang Long Project Management Board stated that the systems on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway section have also just undergone stable testing.

According to a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board, the only current problem on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section is the theft of electrical equipment and underground cables during the recent Lunar New Year holiday.

The Thang Long Project Management Board is coordinating with the contractor to repair several sections of cable that were stolen, as mentioned above, in order to meet the official operational schedule as directed by the Ministry of Construction.

According to a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board, the temporary toll station located at Km94 in Dong Nai province will be removed once the toll collection system is officially operational and stable.

Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay are two sections of the eastern North-South Expressway that the State invested in during the 2017-2020 period. Both sections are interconnected, approximately 200km long, connecting Lam Dong (formerly Binh Thuan province) to Dong Nai, and were put into operation from mid-2023.

In addition to the two sections mentioned above, the eastern sections of the North-South Expressway invested by the State during the 2017-2020 period also include: Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, and Nghi Son - Dien Chau.

Previously, the Ministry of Construction instructed the project management boards of these expressway sections to complete the automated toll collection system, weight control stations, and intelligent traffic management system, with the aim of officially putting them into operation from the beginning of March.
