On May 8-9, the scientific conference themed "New Trends in Cardiovascular Disease Treatment in 2026" (NTCC 2026) took place in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together nearly 1,000 experts, doctors, and healthcare professionals from across the country.

This is an annual scientific conference organized by the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City to update on new trends in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Building on the success of previous conferences, NTCC 2026 – the 12th edition – continues to affirm its role as a specialized academic forum for cardiology, with 298 professional papers presented in various thematic halls over two days. This year's conference brought together many leading experts from Vietnam and abroad, focusing on highly practical content relevant to current treatment needs and the development trends of modern cardiology.

According to Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Hoang Bac, Director of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and disease burden globally. In this context, cardiology is one of the fastest-growing specialties in modern medicine, with many new advances in diagnosis, treatment, and comprehensive patient care.

Professor, Doctor Truong Quang Binh, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, said that NTCC 2026 focuses on four main directions: updating new trends in cardiology; emphasizing the role of early detection, early diagnosis, and early intervention; applying modern technological solutions; and strengthening practical training for medical staff.

Mr. Binh added that one of the prominent trends discussed at this year's conference is the shift from treating individual diseases to a comprehensive and individualized management approach for cardiovascular patients. Professional content is being developed in a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on early management of risk factors and continuous monitoring of patient health. In particular, the relationship between cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic systems is receiving increasing attention in modern clinical practice.

In addition, NTCC 2026 also updates many trends predicted to develop strongly in the next 5-10 years, such as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosis and treatment, genetic information-based therapies, minimally invasive cardiovascular intervention techniques, and remote patient care models through TeleHealth.

A new feature of this year's conference is the increased emphasis on training and practical skills development. Many thematic sessions are designed with a training focus, including topics such as echocardiography practice, interventional cardiology, clinical case discussions, and the sharing of practical experiences among experts.
