From 2013 to 2016, he held the position of Head of Inspection Department, Faculty of State and Law, National Academy of Public Administration.

From 2016 to June 2018, he was deputy head of the Department of State and Law, National Academy of Public Administration.

From June 2018 to December 2019, he held the position of Head of the Department of State - Law and Basic Theory, National Academy of Public Administration.

From January 2023 to present, he is Deputy Director of the National Academy of Public Administration.

Associate Professor Suu has three research directions: legal education for officials and civil servants; anti-corruption in public service activities and law-making in a socialist rule-of-law state.

Associate Professor Suu has guided 4 doctoral students to successfully defend their theses; completed 5 scientific research topics from the grassroots level and above and published 23 books, 89 scientific articles in domestic and international journals.

Consulting candidates on choosing a career

In addition to his management position, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Suu actively participates in admissions consulting. Previously, when consulting on choosing a career, Associate Professor Suu said that candidates need to base their choice on 4 factors: Interests; career requirements; social needs for the career and personal abilities.

Choosing a career is choosing a future. Choosing the right career is setting yourself up for a solid future. For candidates who have just graduated from high school, this choice is not easy. Most of them depend on external reasons such as choosing according to the majority, following the "father-to-son" wishes...

Associate Professor Suu said that the current career guidance work is not effective. Most parents and students still want to get into university, leading to a situation where there are more teachers than workers. The system of secondary and vocational colleges is struggling to recruit students.

"Many students still want to go to school to work in the government. That is the reason why the entrance exam scores for police and military schools are high every year. Because after graduating, they do not have to worry about finding a job, they have a stable job in the government, and their studies are completely subsidized. However, students should understand that not working in the government does not mean unemployment! Many people who do not work in the government have very high incomes, work in their majors and their favorite jobs. However, through the lens of old thinking, they are unemployed," Associate Professor Suu said.

To be successful, Associate Professor Suu advises candidates to proactively improve their foreign language skills, soft skills and need to be exposed to the working world before graduation.

In addition, there should be mechanisms to facilitate universities to be proactive in their partnerships with businesses. Businesses will be a source of useful and accurate information on the requirements/demands of industries, labor market conditions and profit margins from certain majors, from which universities can develop training programs that more fully reflect the needs of the labor market. In addition, there should be objective and multi-dimensional assessments of the quality of training programs and the success rate of job placement of graduates, thereby providing a basis and reliable evidence to help future students and their families have motivation and confidence in their choices.
