Sin Suoi Ho Commune is located halfway up the Son Bac May peak at an altitude of 1,500m. In the Mong ethnic language, "Sin Suoi Ho" means "stream with gold". Chang Phang village has 120 households, 700 people, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cheo Quay Hoa commune, Chang Phang peak is the second highest point in the commune, so standing here you can see the entire Sin Suoi Ho commune. The air is fresh and quiet, so people often tell each other that this is a place of slow living located in a remote place, hidden from the clouds, suitable for relaxation.
Chang Phang Peak is located about 10km from the center of Sin Suoi Ho commune and more than 20km from Muong So commune. To get here, you have to go through winding mountain roads. It is known that these roads were built by the people and the state supported with construction materials, and local hydropower companies supported money and construction materials in the spirit of "The State and the people work together".
After nearly 20 minutes of crossing the pass, we finally arrived. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Cheo Quay Hoa Commune: The name Chang Phang in Chinese means "rest stop". Currently, there are still trenches of our army and French colonialists here. From the top of Chang Phang, you can see the vast primeval forests, green terraced fields, clear streams and winding roads like silk strips. With that advantage, at the end of 2023, 35 households in groups 1 and 2 of Chang Phang village contributed 30 million VND, about 1,400 working days to build a road to the top of the village, planted flowers and trees on both sides of the path and built 20 bamboo and thatch huts with thatched roofs to create a landscape, serve as a sightseeing spot, sell souvenirs and food.
Mr. Sung A Khoa - Vice-director of Chang Phang shared: At first, the villagers saw that Chang Phang peak could be viewed from the majestic scenery of the mountains and forests, so they discussed, contributed money and effort to create a landscape that was both a place for entertainment and preserved the historical relic of the traffic trench to educate the younger generation about patriotism and love for their homeland. After nearly 1 year of construction, on the occasion of the New Year and Lunar New Year 2025, about 4,000 people came to Chang Phang peak to visit, take photos and organize fun activities here.
Households in groups 1 and 2 of Chang Phang village cleaned up and set up a hut at the top of Chang Phang to serve as a resting place for tourists to enjoy the scenery.
Ms. Vang Thi Senh - one of 35 households investing in the Chang Phang peak tourist destination said: We are very happy to have many tourists come to visit and take pictures, so last Tet we developed food and tour guide services. This not only helps me earn more income but also contributes to preserving, promoting and spreading the cultural identity of the Mong people and local culture to tourists from all over. Therefore, we hope that all levels and sectors will pay attention to investing in building synchronous infrastructure, creating conditions for opening training classes to guide how to do community tourism .
Leaders of Sin Suoi Ho commune met and oriented the people of Chang Phang village to develop tourism at Chang Phang peak.
With the available potentials and advantages and the efforts of 35 households in Chang Phang village, Chang Phang peak promises to bring many opportunities for tourism development and is an ideal place for mountain climbing, exploring nature and enjoying the fresh air. However, according to Mr. Cheo Quay Hoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sin Suoi Ho commune, in order for Chang Phang peak to become a community tourism destination, there needs to be attention, support, investment in rural roads, infrastructure, and support policies for people to invest in tourism development. In the immediate future, to attract visitors to Chang Phang peak, the commune has met with people and oriented to bring brocade, embroidery and souvenir products for sale; develop food services; preserve the cultural beauty of the Mong ethnic group. Thereby, contributing to preserving ethnic culture, solving employment and bringing income to people from developing community tourism.
