Sin Suoi Ho commune is located halfway up Son Bac May peak at an altitude of 1,500m. In the Mong ethnic language, "Sin Suoi Ho" means "stream with gold". Chang Phang village has 120 households, 700 inhabitants, all of whom are Mong ethnic people. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, Cheo Quay Hoa, Chang Phang peak is one of the highest points in the commune, so from there you can see the entire Sin Suoi Ho commune. The air is fresh and peaceful, so locals often say it's a place to live slowly, hidden away in the mist, perfect for relaxation.

Chang Phang Peak is located about 10km from the center of Sin Suoi Ho commune and over 20km from Muong So commune. Reaching it requires navigating winding mountain roads. These roads were built with the help of local people, with the government providing construction materials, and local hydropower companies contributing money and materials, in line with the principle of "the State and the people working together."

After nearly 20 minutes of traversing the mountain pass, we finally arrived. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Chẻo Quẩy Hoà commune, the name Chảng Phàng in Chinese means "resting point." The area still retains trenches used by our soldiers and the French colonialists. From the top of Chảng Phàng, one can admire the vast primeval forests, lush green terraced rice fields, a clear stream, and winding roads like ribbons of silk. Taking advantage of this, at the end of 2023, 35 households belonging to groups 1 and 2 of Chảng Phàng village contributed 30 million VND and approximately 1,400 man-days of labor to build a road to the village summit, plant flowers and trees along the path, and erect 20 thatched huts to create a scenic viewpoint, sell souvenirs, and offer food and drinks.

Mr. Sung A Khoa, Deputy Head of Chang Phang village, shared: Initially, the villagers saw that the peak of Chang Phang offered a magnificent view of the mountains and forests, so they discussed and contributed money and effort to create a landscape that served both as a recreational area and a historical site – a section of the trench – to educate the younger generation about patriotism and love for their homeland. After nearly a year of construction, during the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays of 2025, approximately 4,000 people visited the peak of Chang Phang to sightsee, take photos, and participate in recreational activities.

Households in groups 1 and 2 of Chang Phang village cleaned up and erected shelters at the top of Chang Phang to serve as resting places for tourists to enjoy the view.

Ms. Vang Thi Senh , one of the 35 households investing in the Chang Phang peak tourist destination, said: "We are very happy that many tourists come to visit and take photos, so during the recent Tet holiday, we developed services such as food and beverage service and tour guide services. This not only helps me earn more income but also contributes to preserving, promoting, and spreading the cultural identity of the Mong people and the local culture to tourists from all over. Therefore, we hope that all levels and sectors will pay attention to investing in building synchronized infrastructure and creating conditions to open training courses to guide people on how to do community tourism."

Leaders of Sin Suoi Ho commune held a meeting to discuss and guide the people of Chang Phang village in developing tourism at Chang Phang peak.

With its existing potential and advantages, coupled with the efforts of 35 households in Chang Phang village, Chang Phang peak promises many opportunities for tourism development and is an ideal place for mountain climbing, nature exploration , and enjoying the fresh air. However, according to Mr. Cheo Quay Hoa – Chairman of the People's Committee of Sin Suoi Ho commune, for Chang Phang peak to become a community tourism destination, it needs attention, support, and investment in rural roads and infrastructure, as well as supportive policies to encourage local people to invest in tourism development. To attract visitors to Chang Phang peak, the commune has held meetings with the villagers and planned to promote the sale of brocade, embroidery, and souvenir products; develop food and beverage services; and preserve the cultural beauty of the Mong ethnic group. This will contribute to the preservation of ethnic culture, create jobs, and generate income for the people through community tourism development.
