The name has 3 surnames. When mentioning his special name, the young man Su Do Le Quoc Van (26 years old, from Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa) excitedly remembers his student days. Back then, when seeing or hearing the name Van, friends and teachers were often surprised, saying to each other "unique in Vietnam". Possessing a strange name, Van was always on the list of the first students to be called up for a test. Sometimes, teachers called him up to the podium just to explain the meaning of his name.

“I am proud to have a name that people will remember after hearing it once. After many years, teachers and high school friends still remember me - the person with a special name that makes people confuse their first and last names,” Van shared. Not only teachers and friends, but customers who work with Van often confuse their first and last names. Every time he introduces himself, he has to show his ID card or bank account with his full name to prove it. Van's unique name was given by his paternal family based on spiritual advice. “That person said that naming a son like that will bring him luck and peace. I don't know if it's true or not, but my work has been very favorable,” Van said. Specifically, Van's last name has 5 words, of which the first 3 are the last names of his father, mother and grandmother. Van often wonders to his mother about the reason for adding the last name Le to his name. However, his mother doesn't explain much, just saying that it is his maternal grandmother's last name. Regarding the reason why many people mix up their first and last names, Van explained: “Vietnamese people often use the word 'Van' as a middle name for men. However, my name uses the word 'Van' as the main one. Meanwhile, the word 'Su' which is more like a first name is a last name. Therefore, when reading my name, it is difficult for people to distinguish which is the last name and which is the first name.” From a young age, Van was very familiar with people, including acquaintances, calling him "Su oi". Every time like that, he just smiled and repeated his correct name. Dropping out of university to pursue a career in photography , Van humorously said that his name is quite academic, including two subjects in the C block: Literature and History. However, he admitted that he was lazy to study. Because his family has a tradition of working in construction, Van was oriented to choose to study this major at university. However, halfway through his studies, he realized that he did not like it and changed direction. At that time, Van had the opportunity to meet and study photography with a brother who specializes in taking photos of events and stages in the entertainment industry. During the days of practicing with the camera, he realized his passion for photography. The thing this guy is most confident about is taking pictures.
Van's favorite thing is taking photos of events and stages. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, there was not much work in the entertainment industry. So, he switched to wedding photography and has been doing it until now. When he decided to pursue a career in photography, Van faced opposition from his parents. Over time, he gradually proved that any profession has a future, if you focus and love it. Although he is a single guy, when interacting with the bride and groom, Van is humorous and jokes to help customers freely express their feelings. From there, he captured countless beautiful moments on their big day. In particular, customers have a lot of sympathy when hearing Van's name. From being surprised, they feel secure when working with someone whose name cannot be confused with anyone else's. Although he does creative art work, Van does not need to give himself a sparkling stage name. “I am the only one in my family who has a five-letter name, my siblings are not. When I was young, I used to wonder about it, but now I don’t think much about my name anymore. I feel familiar with it and find it beautiful. I cherish the first gift my parents gave me,” Van said proudly.Photo: Character provided - Vietnamnet.vn
