Ms. Ma My Khanh, representative of My Anh Pharmaceutical Company Limited (blue shirt) hopes that the children will always try their best to overcome difficulties in life.
In November 2021, a Vietnamese expatriate in Belgium, named Andrea Tran, and her family received subsidies for 9 students in especially difficult circumstances in Ca Mau City, through the selection and introduction of the Association for the Promotion of Education of Ward 8, Ca Mau City (including 4 junior high school students and 5 high school students).
According to the project, each month a junior high school student receives a subsidy of 800,000 VND and a high school student 1 million VND (equivalent to 100 million VND/year). They receive it quarterly and are supported until they graduate from high school, provided they maintain good or excellent academic performance each year.
However, after 6 times of support, due to business difficulties, Andrea Tran's family could not continue to maintain the project. Faced with this situation, the Ward 8 Education Promotion Association was very confused, because the ward's education promotion fund was limited, so it could not take care of this part. The above difficulties were connected by Ms. Ma My Anh, Director of My Anh Pharmaceutical Company Limited, to continue implementing the project.
“The company has 50 employees, and also has school-age children. First of all, we have to support the company's children; then there are other social support programs that have been implemented up to now. However, seeing that the children's families are in such difficult circumstances, we try to continue to support them, helping them have the conditions to fulfill their dreams,” said Ms. Ma My Khanh, Deputy Director of My Anh Pharmaceutical Company, a representative of My Anh Pharmaceutical Company.
The monthly support for each high school student is 800,000 VND and for each middle school student is 600,000 VND. They also receive it quarterly as before (ie each quarter, each high school student receives 2.4 million VND; each middle school student receives 1.8 million VND).
Dang Phat Tai, an 8C student at Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, Ward 4, lives with his grandparents. His grandfather, To Van Thanh (sitting next to him), is 73 years old. Every day, he pushes a cart to sell beef balls to cover family expenses, so he has a hard time paying for his son's education.
Only by contacting and understanding the families of the students receiving the subsidy can we fully understand the significance of this program. Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Tan Hiep Hamlet, An Xuyen Commune, Ca Mau City, brought Tran Hong Nhung, an 8th grade student at An Xuyen 1 Secondary School, An Xuyen Commune, to receive the subsidy, confided: “Our family has no land for production, and our main income depends on my job as a mortar maker. This season, the rain and sunshine are erratic, making ends meet, while we have to spend on everything in the house. Our children are about to start school, and need all kinds of money, from notebooks, textbooks, school bags, clothes, shoes, school contributions, etc. We are very worried. Now that we continue to receive this support to take care of our children's education, we are very happy and thank the sponsor very much.”
At the subsidy receiving session, I noticed a sad face. Upon asking, I learned that his name was Dang Quoc Khai, a 12th grade student at Ly Van Lam Secondary and High School, living in Thanh Dien Hamlet, Ly Van Lam Commune. Khai lives with his father, and his family also has two uncles who suffer from chronic illnesses (mental illness and asthma...) that his father has the responsibility to take care of. His father's income from driving a Grab car is not enough to cover expenses, so after school hours and during the summer, Khai works at a spicy noodle shop to earn some extra money to help his father take care of the family. To continue receiving the support money is very meaningful to him. "This money helps me have the conditions to take care of my studies, so that I can graduate from high school first. As for going to university, I don't dare to dream of it yet," Khai confided.
Mr. Truong Du Thai, Chairman of the Ward 8 Education Promotion Association, explained: “When we heard that the sponsor could no longer sustain the project, we were extremely worried. We are extremely happy, respectful and grateful to have Ms. My Anh step in to support us like this. We hope that the company will always operate smoothly to support the children in the long term.”
“The company’s business situation is currently facing many difficulties, but we will try our best to maintain the sponsorship. We hope that the students will understand the company’s heart and dedication, always strive to study and strive to improve,” Ms. Ma My Khanh said./.
