According to reporters, OpenAI's web version of ChatGPT experienced a malfunction and was unable to start from the night of December 11-12, with the error occurring globally.
This morning, when accessing ChatGPT, users only received the message: "ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Status: Identified - We have identified the issue and are working to fix it."
According to statistics from Down Detector, a tool that monitors the status of internet services, a large number of reports indicate users are unable to use ChatGPT. 88% of users reported issues with the service itself, 5% with the application, and 7% with the OpenAI website.
For the ChatGPT mobile application, users can still access and use it normally.

The web version of ChatGPT is currently unavailable.
Notably, the ChatGPT outage also affected and rendered inaccessible another OpenAI service, Sora, an AI tool that allows creating videos from descriptive text.
OpenAI stated that it has identified the problem and is working to fix it. The issue stems from OpenAI's application programming interfaces (APIs).
This isn't the first time ChatGPT has experienced a serious outage. Earlier in June, ChatGPT also crashed globally, rendering it inaccessible for users, and it took three days to fully resolve the issue. OpenAI has not provided an explanation for the outage that occurred in early June.
Reportedly, the ChatGPT outage has significantly impacted users worldwide. This is because ChatGPT had become a powerful tool for researching and compiling information, serving both personal and professional needs.
Due to the ChatGPT issue, Meta's services, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, experienced intermittent service disruptions and were sometimes inaccessible.
According to Downdetector, outage reports started appearing frequently from around 0:30 AM and peaked at 1:00 AM globally, with over 80,000 reports on Facebook, 66,000 on Instagram, and around 10,000 on Messenger and WhatsApp.
