OpenAI said on December 12 that it was working on a fix where its artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT and video generator Sora were suddenly inaccessible.
"We have identified the issue and are working on a fix," OpenAI announced on X at around 8:00 a.m. on December 12 (Vietnam time).
According to Downdetector, the reported problem started at around 7am on December 12 (Vietnam time). Some services of the US-based company were affected, and most of the reported problems were related to ChatGPT.
User reports of recent ChatGPT related incidents in the US peaked at 28,478.
According to Tuoi Tre Online reporter, ChatGPT is currently operating normally in Vietnam.
According to CNBC, ChatGPT was down for more than 4 hours recently. In June, ChatGPT was also down for more than 5 hours.
In early December, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company’s technology was approaching 300 million weekly active users. In an October 2024 funding round that included Microsoft and Nvidia, OpenAI was valued at $157 billion.
Apple recently announced that it has released a new software version for iPhone, iPad and Mac that integrates ChatGPT.
Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads experience global outages
Early morning on December 12, Vietnam time, the Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads applications of the technology giant Meta simultaneously stopped working globally due to "technical problems".
In a post on social media X, Meta acknowledged that the issue was affecting some users' ability to access the app. Meta is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and apologized to all affected customers.
A similar announcement was made on Instagram. WhatsApp also confirmed the issue with the cross-platform messaging app, saying they were working on a solution, and reporting that users were able to start messaging normally again as of 1:49 a.m. on December 12, Vietnam time.
The website Downdetector.com, which tracks social media outages, said the outage began at around 10 a.m. Pacific Time on December 11 (around 1 a.m. Vietnam Time on December 12). The number of affected users spiked at 10 a.m. to more than 97,000. Meanwhile, Instagram recorded more than 67,000 outage reports.
Meta is currently investigating the cause of this issue.
