(QBĐT) - Each step taken not only helps participants become healthier but also connects and supports social welfare; at the same time, it helps the running movement in Quang Binh to spread and develop more widely.

Daily jogging habit

At 5 a.m., while Dong Hoi City was still shrouded in mist, along the main roads bordering Bao Ninh and Nhat Le rivers, and in Ho Chi Minh Square and the parks, groups of people began their jogging "journeys." The rhythmic sound of footsteps and breathing blended into the tranquil atmosphere of the early morning. This is a familiar sight for jogging enthusiasts in the city on the banks of the Nhat Le River, where the running movement is thriving.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha, residing in residential area 1, Nam Ly ward (Dong Hoi city), who has maintained a jogging habit for the past 6 years, shared: “Every morning, I run along the riverbank near Rao Bridge and Pham Van Dong road, about 10km. Thanks to jogging, my health has improved, and I work more efficiently.”

Meanwhile, Truong Ngoc Tuan, also from Nam Ly ward and a member of the daily running group, said: “Running not only helps me overcome pressure in my business but also helps change my lifestyle. Before, I used to stay up late and was lazy about exercising, but since joining the Quang Binh Runners (QBR) club, I run every day and my spirits are much higher.”

Along with Mr. Ha and Mr. Tuan, many running enthusiasts in Quang Binh have made this sport a part of their lives, an indispensable daily habit. Running has also brought many family members together to participate in training. Not only does he actively run every day, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh in Quang Thuan ward (Ba Don town) has encouraged his wife and children to join him in training and participating in competitions. For Mr. Khanh, morning runs with his family not only help everyone improve their health awareness but also provide moments for family members to bond.

Thanks to the effectiveness of daily running, the running movement in Quang Binh has now spread, connecting thousands of people across the province. Many running groups and clubs have been established, encouraging and motivating each other to run and actively participate in social welfare activities.

Run to share love

Beyond individual runs, runners in Quang Binh are using their passion to spread love. Fundraising races and charitable programs have transformed running into a beautiful act that brings many benefits to society.

The "Warm Tet for the Poor in the Year of the Snake 2025, 6th Season" running event, organized by the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV), attracted a large number of running enthusiasts in Quang Binh, including many members of the QBR Club, who actively registered to participate. Runners registered via the website and ran at any time to accumulate distance. Each kilometer was converted into 1,000 VND, contributing to the program's social welfare goals.

Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, head of the QBR Club, recalled: "On the opening day of the 'Warm Tet for the Poor in the Year of the Snake 2025' race, we gathered at Ho Chi Minh Square (Dong Hoi City) at 4:30 AM. The atmosphere was very lively. Everyone was excited because they knew that every kilometer they ran would not only improve their health but also bring joy to the poor. That day, the running achievement was tripled, so all members were determined to sprint. Because this was not just a race of physical strength, but also a gathering place for compassionate hearts."

Thanks to these efforts, the QBR Club has contributed tens of thousands of kilometers, equivalent to hundreds of gift packages delivered directly to poor households nationwide, helping them celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025. Mr. Nguyen Tran Duc from Le Thuy district shared that, participating in the "Warm Tet for the Poor, 6th Season" run, he ran over 405km and contributed over 2.5 million VND to the program.

It is known that, within the framework of the "BIDV - Warm Tet for the Poor" program, on the occasion of welcoming the Year of the Snake 2025, BIDV Bank - Quang Binh Branch supported and collaborated with the QBR Club to donate 20 Tet gift packages (each worth 500,000 VND) to disadvantaged families in the districts of Quang Ninh, Le Thuy, Bo Trach and Tuyen Hoa.

Along with the "Warm Tet for the Poor - Spring 2025" run organized by BIDV Bank, many other organizations are also participating in the community running movement. "Sharing Tet for the Poor 2025" is an annual online sports event with a social and charitable focus, co-organized by VietRace365 and its sponsoring partners to raise funds and provide Tet gifts to the poor.

The online sports campaign "Million Steps of Compassion - Continuing the Golden Chapter" is a free running activity on the V-Race platform organized by the Vietnam Red Cross in collaboration with V-Race and FPT Online. Through this campaign, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province aim to mobilize at least 1,000 participants to walk/run using the online sports platform to support the poor; conquer a distance of over 200,000 km and raise over 200 million VND (equivalent to 1,000 VND/km) to support humanitarian aid activities, contributing to the overall goal of the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee to raise 5 billion VND for humanitarian aid activities.

It can be said that these races have attracted a large number of runners in Quang Binh to participate and compete.

Ready for the new seasons

To encourage the development of the running movement in Quang Binh, many running events and Olympic-style runs for public health are held annually throughout the province. The Provincial Department of Culture and Sports has coordinated with various agencies and units to organize many large-scale running events, such as: the "Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2024" held at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, attracting more than 3,100 athletes; and the "Dong Hoi Grand Marathon," which drew a large number of Quang Binh residents to participate in various distances...

In 2025, the running movement in Quang Binh will continue to develop strongly with many races being organized. Currently, runners have begun planning their training and preparing for upcoming competitions. Nguyen Ba Hai from Dong Hoi City, a runner deeply involved in the local sports movement, said: “Since joining the Quang Binh Running Club, I've come to understand that running is not just a sport, but also a way to connect people. Thanks to persistent training, I aim to complete the 42km distance again in the next race.”

According to the Chairman of the Quang Binh Running Club: "The 5th Quang Binh Discovery Marathon, the first race of 2025, will take place in early March. This race is professionally organized and is expected to attract thousands of athletes from both within and outside the country. The club's goal is to have many members complete the full 42km marathon distance. Alongside the race, we will also organize many social welfare activities to continue spreading the value of running to the community.”

The "Warm Tet for the Poor in the Year of the Snake 2025, 6th Season" running event, organized by BIDV Bank, attracted over 54,000 athletes nationwide, contributing over 3.7 million kilometers, equivalent to 15.6 billion VND, to help those in difficult circumstances celebrate the Lunar New Year. Notably, the BIDV Quang Binh team, with 343 athletes, ran over 48,270 km and contributed over 225 million VND (after conversion), ranking 3rd among the top 8 branches with the highest mileage.
