Navigating these special "ferry journeys"

Việt NamViệt Nam12/02/2025

As the unit tasked with receiving and training new recruits, Regiment 95 (Division 2) annually receives hundreds of new recruits from many provinces and cities. At the start of each new recruit recruitment season, the unit always meticulously and thoroughly prepares for all aspects of the process.

Major Mai Quoc Linh, Deputy Political Commissar of the M'Drắk District Military Command, served for 11 years in the 95th Regiment. He rose through the ranks from platoon and company to battalion level, giving him a deep understanding of young soldiers. New recruits entering the military environment are often quite unfamiliar with the environment and therefore require special attention and care. Understanding this, every year during the reception, the 9th Battalion, where he works, meticulously prepares decorations and plans a solemn and thoughtful welcome for new soldiers. The unit prepares signs and arranges flowers and plants right from the barracks gate; battalion officers at all levels dress in formal attire to welcome the new recruits. Representatives from the command and local authorities prepare bouquets of fresh flowers to welcome the young soldiers to work and study at the unit…

Each season of receiving and training new recruits leaves unforgettable impressions. The years 2021 and 2022 were particularly special as the unit undertook a "dual mission," simultaneously training for combat readiness and preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Major Mai Quoc Linh recounted: "The entire unit had to fully implement disease prevention measures, regularly wearing masks during training and daily activities; even meals had to be divided into shifts, always ensuring safe distancing to prevent the spread of disease. Because COVID-19 lasted so long, family members couldn't visit the soldiers, so officers at all levels had to be even more attentive and supportive of the new recruits. The platoons prepared phones so soldiers could connect via Zalo to chat and inquire about their families; they established Zalo pages for family support and soldiers, regularly posting information and activities so that relatives could stay informed. At the end of the week, the battalion organized handwritten letters for the soldiers, giving them more opportunities to share their thoughts with their families…"

At Regiment 66 (Corps 34), the recruitment of new soldiers is carried out in the spirit of "all for the soldiers." For many months prior, officers and soldiers of Regiment 66 had been tidying up the barracks, preparing the training grounds, lesson plans, and lectures; and deploying officers at all levels to research new initiatives and improvements that apply science and technology to training tasks.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Anh Thuong, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of Regiment 66, observed: "Going through each new recruit recruitment season, we see that the citizens enlisting are increasingly well-educated, have a high level of awareness, and adhere very well to military discipline. The young people integrate very quickly into the strict disciplinary environment."

At Battalion 303 (Regiment 584, Provincial Military Command), the unit receives more than 400 citizens from districts, towns, and cities in the province each year. It's impossible to list all the efforts of the unit and officers at all levels in persistently caring for the soldiers so they can focus on their studies and work. In return, the young soldiers gradually adapt and enthusiastically contribute to beautifying the barracks and enriching the unit's achievements.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Duong, Political Officer of Battalion 303, proudly stated: “The unit’s annual achievements are largely due to the contributions of our soldiers. With their talent, skill, and intelligence, these young soldiers have carried out many meaningful projects and tasks; participated enthusiastically and achieved high results in competitions and sports events; and excellently completed all assigned tasks…”.

Steering these special "journeys," the units receiving and training new recruits have been focusing on making the most thorough and meticulous preparations to welcome the new recruits. This creates determination and a vibrant competitive spirit for the new training season, aiming for greater success and higher results than the previous year.
