On the morning of June 13, at the Canadian International School (District 6), the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City cooperated with KDI Education to organize a workshop on "Artificial intelligence and applications in schools" for education administrators in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ngo Quoc Hung, Director of the Center for Training AI Talents (CoTAI) analyzed the strengths and limitations of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as the potential benefits of applying artificial intelligence to the education sector in Vietnam.
Overview of the conference |
“The best and fastest way for schools and students to properly understand AI is to start learning and exploiting it in practice early on in a systematic way. If any unit prohibits or restricts the use of AI, it is an ineffective solution, going against the trend of development, causing disadvantages and missing opportunities for students, "said Mr. Ngo Quoc Hung.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized the requirement to ensure the confidentiality of information for students |
From another perspective, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Research Team Leader for the THRIVE STEM education program at the University of Missouri (USA), said: “To protect student privacy and security, education authorities need to establish clear guidelines for data collection, storage and use, as well as avoid over-reliance on AI.
In it, teachers still play an important role in fostering relationships, understanding students' needs and socio-emotional needs.
Speakers share ideas at the conference |
In terms of AI teaching in schools, Mr. Nguyen Viet Trung, Deputy General Director of KDI Education updated the trends of AI development in the world and its application to teaching students in Vietnam.
In particular, the design of educational programs and contests on artificial intelligence for teachers and students at all levels is necessary to further promote the benefits of applying AI in schools.
Representative of District 7 Department of Education and Training discussed at the workshop |
Also in the workshop, representatives of school management boards had many discussions with experts and managers of education and training departments of districts, thereby finding suitable solutions to strongly apply AI in training students in the digital era.
