Cho Don: Residents actively participate in providing feedback on the two draft plans for merging provinces and communes.

BBK - Following the directive of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee regarding the collection of public opinions on the draft plan for merging commune-level administrative units and the draft plan for merging Bac Kan province with Thai Nguyen province, immediately after the documents were published on the morning of April 17th, Cho Don district promptly implemented the process of collecting voter opinions according to the plan and guidelines of the province.

According to the draft plan for reorganizing commune-level administrative units in the district, the reorganization plan includes:

  • The commune of Nam Cuong was established (based on the merger of Xuan Lac commune, Nam Cuong commune, and Dong Lac commune, with the administrative headquarters located in Nam Cuong commune).
  • The commune of Quảng Bạch was established (based on the merger of Quảng Bạch commune and Tân Lập commune, with the administrative headquarters located in Quảng Bạch).
  • The commune of Yên Thịnh was established (based on the merger of Bản Thi commune, Yên Thịnh commune, and Yên Thượng commune, with the administrative headquarters located in Yên Thịnh commune).
  • The commune of Chợ Đồn was established (based on the merger of Ngọc Phái commune, Phương Viên commune, Bằng Lũng town, and Bằng Lãng commune, with the administrative headquarters located in Bằng Lũng).
  • The commune of Yên Phong was established (based on the merger of Đại Sảo commune, Yên Mỹ commune, and Yên Phong commune, with the administrative headquarters located in Yên Phong commune).
  • The Nghia Ta commune was established (based on the merger of Luong Bang commune, Nghia Ta commune, and Binh Trung commune, with its headquarters located in Nghia Ta commune).

On April 17th and 18th, the People's Committees of communes and towns simultaneously held public meetings in villages and residential areas to disseminate the content and gather opinions on the two draft projects. The public meetings were conducted seriously, following the correct procedures, ensuring transparency and democracy, and creating favorable conditions for people to access and contribute their opinions.

In Nghia Ta commune, after receiving the directive, the commune quickly implemented the plan. Commune leaders assigned to each village went directly to the villages to provide guidance, disseminate information, and answer questions and clarify any unclear points for the villagers. To date, all 8 villages in the commune have completed providing feedback on the two draft documents.

In Bang Lung town, by the afternoon of April 18th, 10 out of 17 residential groups had completed providing feedback on the two draft proposals. Mr. Lam Thanh Tao, from residential group 10, Bang Lung town, said: "When the content of the two draft proposals was disseminated, I saw this as a major policy, demonstrating innovation in state management. We strongly agree with the merger if it helps to streamline the administrative apparatus and make it more efficient."

As of the afternoon of April 18th, 93 out of 148 villages and residential areas in the district had completed the process of holding meetings and gathering public opinions. Several communes have completed 100% of their villages, including Bang Phuc, Ban Thi, Yen Thinh, Yen Thuong, Dong Lac, Nghia Ta, Yen Phong, Yen My, and Bang Lang. The remaining communes are actively implementing the process, striving to complete the gathering of opinions from all villages and residential areas in the district by the end of April 19th.

Based on preliminary feedback, the majority of voters expressed agreement with the content of the two draft proposals. People highly appreciated the spirit of innovation and the restructuring of the administrative apparatus towards a streamlined and efficient model, and expressed their hope that the mergers and reorganizations would contribute to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, facilitating access to public services, promoting socio -economic development, and ensuring national defense and security.

The implementation of the voter consultation process has been identified by Cho Don district as an important political task, carried out urgently and systematically, ensuring compliance with the schedule and legal regulations. Cho Don is actively working with other localities to expedite the completion of the public consultation on the two draft projects, making a significant contribution to helping Bac Kan province complete the compilation of opinions on time, serving to finalize the project report to the Central Government within the deadline.
