With the spirit of "leaving no one behind," the city has implemented comprehensive and timely measures to care for the poor, near-poor, and vulnerable groups during the Lunar New Year. This demonstrates the determination and responsibility of the entire political system and the collective efforts of society to bring a warm and meaningful spring season.

In recent days, preparations for Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations for the people have been carried out urgently and comprehensively by all levels and sectors in Da Nang city. From remote islands to border areas facing many difficulties, the overarching principle is to ensure that all citizens can celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 in a joyful and warm atmosphere, leaving no one behind.

Preparing to welcome the spring

In Tan Hiep island commune, social welfare is identified as a top priority every spring. According to the Chairwoman of the People's Committee, Pham Thi My Huong, due to the locality's unique situation where there are no longer any poor households, the focus of care is primarily on disadvantaged households, families receiving social assistance, and those under social protection programs. The overarching goal is to ensure that all residents on the island fully experience the atmosphere of the traditional Tet holiday.

For many years, Tet (Lunar New Year) welfare programs in Tan Hiep commune have become a beautiful tradition, deeply rooted in community spirit. Notable examples include the "Tet Cakes for the Needy" program and the "Zero-Cost Market" program. Through the mobilization of organizations and philanthropists, many practical gifts have been distributed, helping people to prepare for Tet more fully.

In addition, Tan Hiep island commune will organize cultural activities and festivals, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people this spring. Due to its distance from the mainland and the lack of professional event organizers, commune officials are proactively organizing many activities to serve the community. The movement to decorate for Tet (Lunar New Year) will also be enthusiastically implemented in the form of a competition between villages, contributing to beautifying the landscape and creating a vibrant spring atmosphere. Furthermore, cultural programs and folk games such as Bài Chòi singing and folk game performances organized by the Public Service Center and the Elderly Association of the commune are expected to attract a large number of people to participate...

As the year draws to a close, the atmosphere of preparing for the Lunar New Year is spreading throughout Hung Son border commune. The commune's People's Committee, in coordination with the Ga Ry Border Guard Station, organized a conference to implement the "Border Guard Spring - Warming the Hearts of the Local People" program for 2026, organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Son commune, Zoram Buon, the program is expected to take place over two days, February 7th and 8th (corresponding to the 20th and 21st days of the 12th lunar month), with many activities reflecting the unique cultural identity of the highlands. People will participate in tent pitching competitions, display local products, wrap green sticky rice cakes together, and cook traditional dishes. Border guards will also mobilize social resources to organize free medical examinations and provide free medicine to the people.

At the "zero-cost market," it is expected that 1,500 Tet (Lunar New Year) gift packages will be handed directly to the people; another 500 gift packages will be given to Party committees, authorities, and people in the border area with Laos. The total cost of these activities is over 5 billion VND.

“This year’s program was chosen to be held in Pứt village, Hùng Sơn commune, an area that suffered significant losses of life and property during the heavy rains and landslides at the end of 2025. Organizing Tet celebrations here not only has material significance but also serves as a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping the people gain more faith and strength to overcome difficulties and confidently enter the new year,” said Mr. Zơrâm Buôn.

For a spring filled with love and compassion.

Over the past period, the City Red Cross Society has actively implemented the "Compassionate Tet" movement, aiming to care for the lives of poor households, households with difficult circumstances, and vulnerable groups. According to the plan, the entire city is expected to distribute more than 42,000 Tet gifts, each worth at least 500,000 VND, with a total mobilized resource of approximately 21 billion VND. Beneficiaries include people with disabilities, elderly people living alone, orphaned children, victims of Agent Orange, and households facing difficulties due to natural disasters and illness.

A highlight of the "Compassionate Tet" movement is the implementation of "Fair - Gift Giving - Celebrating Tet" models, helping people not only receive material support but also have their spiritual well-being taken care of. In addition, some families with elderly or disabled members receive support for house repairs, ensuring comfortable living conditions during the Lunar New Year.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the city will implement many programs to care for the poor and those in difficult circumstances. Specifically, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will present 300 Tet gifts from the Party, State leaders and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to poor households, near-poor households and families with particularly difficult circumstances, each gift worth 1.3 million VND.

The City's "For the Poor" Fund Campaign Committee will organize visits and present 11,660 Tet gifts with a total budget of over 11.6 billion VND. The City's Fatherland Front also provides maximum support of 30 million VND per unit to orphanages, disadvantaged children's centers, and specialized associations, and prepares 1,000 gifts for visiting and encouraging the people.

"The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city also requested political and social organizations, the Red Cross Society, and other member organizations to proactively develop plans and mobilize social resources to care for members, workers, and laborers in difficult circumstances, ensuring that all citizens can celebrate Tet happily and warmly," Ms. Phuong said.
