Realizing the importance of ensuring stable and favorable living and working conditions for cadres, civil servants, and public employees working at the Provincial Administrative Center after the province's merger, Vinh Long province has directed the Department of Construction and the Department of Finance to coordinate with other sectors to prepare facilities, especially official housing and lodging.

According to the Department of Construction, currently according to the guidance of the Ministry of Construction , the subjects allocated public housing must be civil servants and public employees of party, state and political organizations holding positions from deputy director of the department or higher with an allowance coefficient of 0.7 or higher. Compared with this standard, according to preliminary demand statistics, there are about 250 civil servants and public employees of the 2 provinces who are eligible for public housing.
Due to the limited public housing fund of the province, the provincial leaders are currently paying attention to the arrangement. Currently, the number of temporary public housing that can be occupied immediately for 105 people. Accordingly, the locations for arranging public housing and temporary public housing that can be occupied immediately are: No. 79 Pham Thai Buong Street, Ward 4 (4 rooms); Apartment Building Hamlet 2, Ward 8 (6 rooms); Nursing Center for Meritorious People, Tan Ngai Ward (45 rooms); Pham Hung Political School (24 rooms); Provincial People's Committee Guest House (26 rooms). In addition, the offices and dormitories of facilities that are no longer in use will be renovated and repaired to suit the needs of use.
In the immediate future, the Department of Construction will coordinate with the Department of Finance to review and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to renovate and repair 7 housing facilities with over 100 rooms to accommodate about 170 civil servants. Thus, there will be enough accommodation for about 250 civil servants who are eligible for official housing.
For civil servants and employees who are not eligible for official housing, the province has directed the Department of Construction and the Department of Finance to survey unused real estate, agency headquarters, and schools to renovate and repair them into accommodations. According to preliminary statistics, the demand of this group of people is about 1,100 people.
Mr. Do Cong Danh - Head of the Department of Planning, Architecture and Housing Management, Real Estate Market (Department of Construction) said that the province has completed the survey and proposed a plan to use real estate facilities, prioritizing similar functions such as dormitories and guesthouses for repair and renovation, increasing the surplus real estate fund when arranging for temporary accommodation, while waiting for investment in social housing funds, in the immediate future, after renovation and repair, it is possible to accommodate about 450 people. In addition, the province also has a plan to renovate offices combined with accommodation, it is expected that about 300 more people can be accommodated.
Along with preparing accommodation, the province plans to submit to the (new) Provincial People's Council a plan to support transportation and travel expenses for civil servants and public employees from Ben Tre province and Tra Vinh province (old) to work at the Vinh Long Provincial Administrative Center after the merger.
