The project received support from the Can Tho City Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center, which provided 700 meters of pipeline and installed water meters for 18 households. Currently, 5,581 households in Thanh Thoi An district use hygienic water, accounting for 90.2%; of which, 4,104 households use clean water meeting quality standards from the centralized water supply system, accounting for 66.2%. In some remote areas, people still lack access to clean water that meets standards, therefore extending clean water pipelines is extremely necessary and urgent.
The People's Committee of Thanh Thoi An commune, in coordination with the Fatherland Front and other organizations from the commune to the hamlet level, has propagated and mobilized people to participate in the social mobilization movement to bring clean water to rural areas. Since the beginning of the year, Thanh Thoi An has completed two projects; previously, the commune laid a 1,800m pipeline to bring clean water to Thanh An 1 hamlet, serving approximately 40 households.
Mr. Le Trung Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Thoi An commune, said: "The People's Committee of the commune will continue to coordinate with the Fatherland Front and other commune organizations to strengthen propaganda and mobilize social resources for laying clean water pipelines. In September, we will deploy an additional pipeline section of about 2,200m in Thanh Nhan 1 hamlet, serving approximately 60 households."
