Houses built with compassion
Mr. Le Van Nha, residing in My Chanh hamlet, could not hide his joy upon moving into his new house. The solidarity house, built to the "three solid" criteria, is sturdy and meets the basic living needs of his family. "I've longed for a new house for a long time but haven't been able to. Now that the government and philanthropists have supported the construction with funding, I'm so happy I can't sleep," Mr. Nha shared.
Along with Mr. Nha's family, nine other households in My Duc commune also received solidarity houses sponsored by An Giang Lottery Construction Company Limited, with a total cost of 600 million VND, the remaining amount being contributed by the households themselves.
Besides providing housing support, the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Duc commune have also actively mobilized resources to provide healthcare for the people. Recently, the locality coordinated with Military Hospital 121, the Logistics and Technical Department of Military Region 9, and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to organize free medical examinations, distribute free medicine, and give gifts to 300 people from policy beneficiary families, poor households, and households with difficult circumstances in the area.
According to Tran Thanh Tam, Chairman of the People's Committee of My Duc Commune, although the local socio-economic development is good, people's access to high-tech medical services is still limited. "The locality greatly appreciates the attention of Military Hospital 121 and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the work of caring for the people's health. This contributes to supporting the commune in effectively implementing Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health," Mr. Tran Thanh Tam said.
Speaking directly about mobilizing resources to carry out medical examinations, treatment, and gift-giving for the people of My Duc commune, Major General Nguyen Minh Trieu - Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, said: “Military Hospital 121, in coordination with Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, organized free medical examinations and dispensed free medicine to the people of My Duc commune to express gratitude and the close bond between the people and the armed forces of Military Region 9. This is one of many meaningful activities that we have implemented throughout the military region in recent times.”
Expand the routes.
Besides caring for the lives and health of the people, the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Duc commune actively mobilized resources to upgrade rural transportation infrastructure. Specifically, the locality mobilized 2 billion VND in funding and 2,160 man-days of labor from the people to build Ba Ngan bridge.
Directly contributing to the construction of the Ba Ngạn bridge, Mr. Mai Văn Toàn - Head of the Executive Board of the Hòa Hảo Buddhist Association in Mỹ Đức commune - affirmed that for Hòa Hảo Buddhist followers, joining hands with the community to build the homeland and the country is a way to repay the "Fourfold Gratitude". "We encourage our followers to abide by the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and actively participate in things that benefit the community and our hometown of Mỹ Đức," Mr. Mai Văn Toàn expressed.
Rural roads in the commune have also received special attention for upgrading. Thanks to funding from Major General Nguyen Minh Trieu, the local authorities are upgrading and expanding a 300-meter-long, 3-meter-wide road section in Khanh An hamlet, with an estimated cost of 350 million VND. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Trinh Minh Khai, a resident of Khanh An hamlet, shared his joy: “We are so happy that the government has invested in upgrading this road section. From now on, we no longer have to worry about dust in the sun or mud in the rain.”
Mr. Tran Thanh Tam stated that the completion of the concrete paving of the road section passing through hamlets 14 and 15 in Khanh An village contributes to creating a more attractive appearance for the locality, contributes to building new rural areas, and helps people travel and trade more conveniently.
