The conference was attended by representatives from relevant departments and agencies, local authorities, as well as a large number of fishing boat owners, fishermen, seafood purchasing businesses, and establishments operating in the fisheries sector in the area.
At the conference, delegates were briefed on the basic contents of the Fisheries Law and its implementing guidelines; regulations on registration, inspection, and licensing of fishing vessels; installation and maintenance of vessel tracking devices; recording and submission of fishing logs; and compliance with regulations on fishing zones.
Fishermen are reviewing information on leaflets regarding legal regulations on preventing and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
The conference also focused on disseminating legal regulations related to combating IUU fishing, the penalties for administrative violations in the fisheries sector; and providing information on maritime border regulations, protecting maritime sovereignty and islands, and not encroaching on foreign waters during fishing activities.
This activity aims to raise awareness and responsibility among fishermen and fishing vessel owners regarding compliance with fisheries laws; contributing to the effective implementation of anti-IUU fishing efforts by relevant agencies, towards the goal of lifting the European Commission's "yellow card" warning against Vietnam's fisheries sector.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity to strengthen coordination between relevant agencies and local authorities in disseminating information and encouraging fishermen to exploit aquatic resources in a sustainable and responsible manner.
