Join hands to prevent and fight drugs

Drug abuse is always a deep concern of the whole society. June 26 is the World Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and also the National Day against Drug Abuse in Vietnam. This is an opportunity for us to recognize and raise awareness of everyone in preventing, combating and fighting against drug abuse.

Addicted without knowing it until she was completely dependent on drugs, Ms. NTL, a student at the Vinh Phuc Province Drug Rehabilitation Center, gradually lost everything from family, job, money, health. After many days of treatment to overcome her drug addiction, Ms. L woke up from her dream about the dangers of drugs to herself, her family and society.

Because she was too busy playing and competing, Ms. NTG's son got involved in drugs without even realizing it. Seeing her own son emaciated due to the effects of drugs, this poor woman could not help but feel heartbroken. To save her son, Ms. G discussed with her family the determination to overcome the pain and send her son to the Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center for rehabilitation.

In recent years, drug addiction treatment in the province has achieved positive results. Forms of drug addiction treatment have been implemented such as home-based treatment, community-based treatment; treatment at drug addiction treatment facilities, and methadone replacement therapy, which have created conditions for many drug addicts to have the opportunity to choose appropriate treatment to have a chance to rebuild their lives.

Currently, the whole province still has over 1,500 drug addicts with records. To gradually push drug abuse out of the community, it is necessary to have the participation of all levels, functional sectors as well as the cooperation of the people, all with the common goal of building drug-free communes, wards and towns.
