Providing sustainable livelihoods

In the scorching April sun, undeterred by the distance, the charitable vehicles from the lowlands continue to roll, carrying love to the mountainous communes.

Avương commune, located in a border area, faces many difficulties, with its people primarily relying on slash-and-burn agriculture and experiencing unstable incomes. In accordance with Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU, the Farmers' Association of Ngũ Hành Sơn ward organized the program "Connecting with Compassion - Ngũ Hành Sơn Farmers Share with the People of Avương Commune".

During the program, Ngu Hanh Son ward donated 10 pairs of breeding pigs to 10 farming households and 50 gift packages, each worth 500,000 VND, to poor farmer members in the area. A representative of the Ngu Hanh Son Ward Farmers' Association stated that these breeding pigs represent a sustainable livelihood, helping highland farmers develop livestock farming, opening up a stable source of income in the future, and contributing to poverty reduction and socio-economic development in the locality.

According to the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Avương commune, Bríu Thị Nem, the program "Connecting with Compassion - Farmers of Ngũ Hành Sơn share with the people of Avương commune" not only has material significance but also contributes to strengthening solidarity between localities, spreading the spirit of mutual support and compassion, and enhancing coordination and assistance in socio-economic development.

Recently, the An Khe Ward Red Cross Society also organized a humanitarian trip to the A Duong 2 cluster in Dong Giang commune. Thanks to the joint efforts of businesses and philanthropists, the ward's Red Cross Society donated 42 gift packages, each worth 300,000 VND, to disadvantaged households; prepared 50 free meals for the local people; and distributed 50 gifts to children. The total cost of the program was nearly 20 million VND.

Mr. Do Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the An Khe Ward Red Cross Society, said that although the two localities have not established a sister-ward relationship, with a spirit of mutual support, An Khe Ward always pays attention to and supports the people here. Through this, they further encourage and motivate the people and children in the highlands to overcome difficulties and strive for a better life.

"Standing alongside women in border areas"

As part of the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program in 2026, the Women's Union of Ban Thach ward recently organized a journey of sharing love with women in Dac Pring commune. During the program, officials and members of the Women's Union of Ban Thach ward donated four piglets to two women, supported the construction of an orchard for one family, and distributed 100 packages of essential goods to disadvantaged member families.

According to Ms. Huynh Thi Ngan Giang, Vice President of the Women's Union of Ban Thach Ward, the total cost of the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program is nearly 90 million VND, contributed voluntarily by officials and members of the Women's Union of Ban Thach Ward. This aims to share difficulties and support women members in mountainous areas in developing their businesses, increasing their income, and improving their family lives.

According to a representative of the City Women's Union, in line with the policy of accompanying and supporting the comprehensive development of mountainous areas, the City Union is implementing a series of activities titled "Spreading Love - Strengthening the Border" in the communes of La Dêê, La Êê, and Đắc Pring.

The program included many outstanding welfare activities such as: donating 90 gift packages to disadvantaged women, 30 gift packages and 400 notebooks to diligent students; providing 50 million VND to build a shelter for the needy in La Êê commune; and donating a clean water filtration system worth 50 million VND to children at Đắc Pring Kindergarten.

In addition, it supports localities in building "National Flag Roads," "Green, Clean, Beautiful, and Bright Border Roads"; and helps women in mountainous areas change their mindset and methods to escape poverty sustainably...

Shortly after its implementation, Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU of the Da Nang City Party Committee on the policy of establishing fraternal ties between units and localities has achieved many positive results.

To date, all 60 lowland communes and wards have established sister-commune relationships with 33 mountainous and border communes. Based on these sister-commune agreements, a series of practical support and assistance programs have been implemented to help people in mountainous areas gradually overcome poverty, contributing to the comprehensive and synchronized socio-economic development of these communes.
