Digital transformation in agricultural extension activities

According to the report of the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics, digital transformation in agriculture in the world is taking place strongly thanks to the widespread application of advanced technologies to improve production efficiency and ensure sustainable development. In Vietnam, the application of high technology in agriculture, especially in the field of pig farming, is increasingly promoted to meet the demand for safe and quality food. The smart pig farming model not only helps to improve efficiency but also plays an important role in the process of digital transformation of agriculture.

In Hai Phong, the development of platforms and systems - has deployed applications and effectively operated national database systems as well as digital technology platforms such as: data management on crop cultivation and plant protection; database on animal feed, livestock production facilities; online animal disease information system; system for monitoring and updating information and data on fishing vessels Vnfishbase; natural disaster monitoring system, automatic water level measuring station...; Regarding data development - completing the task of digital transformation in creating and managing databases to serve biodiversity investigation and monitoring in Cat Ba Biosphere Reserve according to the set roadmap and plan: creating a biodiversity database for 800 species of flora and fauna in Cat Ba Archipelago Biosphere Reserve; applying rapid identification for 30 rare and endangered species.

According to Mr. Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center, the National Agricultural Extension Center has started to build a digital transformation strategy throughout the system. The digital transformation strategy for agricultural extension will follow three pillars: digital communication; digital training and coaching; digital administration and services. To develop digital transformation in agricultural extension, agricultural extension officers need to identify their current position, fully understand the changes, and form new approaches suitable to the trend. The National Agricultural Extension Center will develop common standards for localities to implement synchronously and will submit to the Ministry for approval to build a digital agricultural extension project. The National Agricultural Extension Center is committed to directly directing the application of technology in agricultural extension work, aiming for synchronous digital transformation from the central to local levels.
