Managers and researchers have provided comprehensive and insightful insights and proposed solutions for the continued preservation and promotion of the cultural and human values ​​of Quang Nam – a vast and abundant resource for the province's sustainable development in the new context.

Identifying the culture and people of Quang Nam

In his opening remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Trieu Long, Director of the Regional Political Academy III, stated that the cultural values ​​and people of Quang Nam were formed under unique natural, geographical, and historical conditions, and are also fundamental factors determining the success of Quang Nam's development in various stages.

Recognizing the importance of cultural and human values ​​in history, the locality consistently makes decisions to further promote these values ​​in the present and future, demonstrating progressive leadership thinking.

And Mr. Long posed the question: "What must we do to ensure that the cultural values ​​and people of Quang Nam truly become the inherent strength of the locality, an important resource contributing to socio -economic development, and building the position, image, and cultural brand of the province in the new context?"

To contribute to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the cultural and human values ​​of Quang Nam in relation to the province's sustainable development in the new era, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Trieu Long proposed that scientists focus their discussions on several key issues, such as clearly identifying the cultural and human values ​​of Quang Nam, from traditional to modern, that need to be promoted in the new era, and those values ​​that lie within the common source of the national value system; determining tasks and solutions, especially breakthrough tasks and solutions, in promoting the cultural and human values ​​of Quang Nam to meet the requirements of the province's sustainable development; and specific tasks and solutions to implement the national value system, cultural value system, family value system, and Vietnamese human standards in the new era…

Assessing the human values ​​of Quang Nam within the Vietnamese human value system, Dr. Vu Ngoc Hoang - former Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee - stated that the people of Quang Nam are all deeply patriotic and heroic in fighting and sacrificing to protect the sacred Fatherland. They are rich and diverse in their culture of national defense, possess a strong sense of national community, love their fellow countrymen and their race, and support each other in times of hardship and danger. They are hardworking, diligent in raising their children and caring for their families, and studious. "Therefore, we need to constantly nurture and build upon our strengths, clearly identify our weaknesses in cultural development, and openly acknowledge them without concealing ignorance or shame. We need to promote a spirit of critical thinking, thereby encouraging criticism to create a team with independent thinking, who dare and know how to critically analyze, and bravely defend their own opinions, not blindly following others. Scientific criticism is a characteristic of true intellectuals and a path to accessing objective truth," Mr. Hoang said.

Transforming values ​​to develop our homeland.

Through eight presentations and discussions from agencies, units, experts, scientists, and managers related to the field of culture, along with dozens of other presentations at the conference, the conference has examined the region and its people from many perspectives and angles, considering the natural and social characteristics throughout their history of formation and development.

It can be said that, for a locality with rich cultural potential like Quang Nam, fully and deeply identifying and effectively promoting cultural and human values, and transforming these values ​​into abundant resources to serve rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, is one of the most important and scientifically-based tasks.

From the natural characteristics of Quang Nam province, with high mountains to the west and the vast sea to the east, and through the formation, development, coexistence, exchange, and cultural transformation, the distinctive personality traits of the people have been shaped and nurtured, creating a unique Quang Nam cultural tradition within the diversity of Vietnamese culture: patriotism, compassion, solidarity, loyalty, honesty, straightforwardness, friendliness; studiousness, academic achievement; loyalty, courage, resilience, heroism, dedication, innovation, high responsibility towards the nation; early expansion of international exchange and cooperation for economic and cultural development; innovation, dynamism, creativity, and aspiration for the development of the homeland and the country…

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated that the workshop proposed tasks and solutions for the coming period, specifically focusing on leadership, guidance, and management to thoroughly understand and concretize the implementation of viewpoints, policies, tasks, and solutions, along with the issuance of mechanisms and policies to ensure and attract resources, contributing to the building and development of Quang Nam's culture and people. Priority should be given to investing in the comprehensive development of Quang Nam's people, coupled with building a healthy and civilized cultural environment. These two factors have a dialectical relationship with each other.

“The opinions expressed at the workshop are valuable experiences, assessments, affirmations, suggestions, and proposals for Quang Nam to continue building and perfecting policies on cultural and human development in the new era in accordance with the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the directives of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference on November 24, 2021, and the Resolution of the 22nd Provincial Party Congress,” affirmed Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.

In his welcoming remarks and opening speech at the workshop, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated that Quang Nam possesses cultural resources crystallized from a wealth of tangible and intangible cultural values, rich in identity.

Currently, cultural resources are being recognized through cultural industries. Among the 13 cultural industries, Quang Nam's potential and advantages are present in many sectors; among them, cultural tourism stands out. This is identified as an important resource that both meets the spiritual needs of the people in the province and domestic and international tourists visiting Quang Nam, and is the shortest "path" to promoting the image of Quang Nam to the people of the whole country and the image of Vietnam to international friends. Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary are considered national assets and are among the defining characteristics of Vietnamese tourism.
