In the latest episode of Tonight's Story with the Stars, the audience had the opportunity to listen to emotional and intimate sharing from singer Dong Dao, a singer who has been associated with folk and bolero music for more than 30 years.

Singer Dong Dao, full name Nguyen Thuy Dong Dao, was born and raised in An Giang . Throughout her singing career, she left a mark in the hearts of audiences through many familiar songs such as Bong squash vang, Huong toc ma non, Con thuong rau dang moc sau he, Lu chuon chut ket cau ho, Chuyen tinh nguoi trinh nu nam Thi, Mua cold tan canh...

Recalling her first memories of performing, the singer happily told MC Minh Ngoc: "The first time I stepped on stage, I was only 6 years old, standing in front of thousands of audiences in my hometown, I was shaking and wanted to cry." Despite her young age, her clear, innocent voice at that time made the audience admire and leave an unforgettable impression. Singer Dong Dao's singing career gradually took shape. From singing in movements and competitions at school, she quickly became a familiar face in local art programs.

After finishing high school, she passed the entrance exam to the College of Culture and Arts, and was invited to join the Military Region 7 Performing Arts Troupe. She brought her singing to all parts of the country, "gathering" many experiences and beautiful memories for her luggage. The year Dong Dao graduated was also the year the Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing Contest held its first season. She won first prize overall and officially entered the professional singing career.

Although he has tried his hand at many genres, from traditional songs, solos, duets to children's music, folk music is the music genre that has kept Dong Dao the longest. With a sweet, rustic voice, Dong Dao quickly won the hearts of audiences who love folk music. "Folk music to me is not only music , but also my homeland, the image of my parents, of the thatched roof of the old days. Every folk song I sing carries a part of my memory," Dong Dao emotionally shared.

After more than 30 years of working in the arts, what makes Dong Dao loved by the audience is her humility and rare spirit of learning. “I have never felt that I am enough. Whether I am a singer or now a singing teacher, I still learn every day,” she confided.

Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc, singer Dong Dao said that if she did not pursue an artistic career, she would have wanted to become a teacher. And now, she has achieved that by taking on the role of a vocal teacher.

During the teaching process, she admitted that it was the innocence and simplicity of her young students that helped her realize many values in music. However, Dong Dao could not hide her concerns: “Many students have skills, learned at school or from teachers, but they are taught by rote, following the pattern of their predecessors. The most important thing is to understand the content of the song and find your own unique style.” For her, a successful voice does not lie in “similarity” but in creativity: “True emotions can touch people’s hearts. Singing with your own thoughts will create the “soul” of the song, that is what is precious.”

When asked by MC Minh Ngoc about "passing on the profession" to her children, singer Dong Dao admitted: "Maybe the Buddha at home is not sacred." Although her children do not pursue art, "sometimes the three of us get together to play and sing, it's so much fun," she said.

Over 30 years have passed, singer Dong Dao still keeps her passion for her career burning. She regularly appears on many programs, bringing interesting and meaningful performances and comments to the audience.
