Phu Tho Club suspended from competition

According to the FIFA decision, Phu Tho FC was found to be involved in match-fixing in a number of matches. The punishment given was to disqualify Phu Tho FC from the 2025 National Second Division, and force the team to play in the National Third Division in the following season.

Based on the disciplinary decision from FIFA, the Organizing Committee announced that from the 5th match on May 3, 2025, Phu Tho Club will officially be suspended from competing in the Second Division this year. All competition results of Phu Tho Club from the beginning of the season will be canceled.

The remaining matches of the 2025 season will continue as normal according to the issued schedule. At the same time, the incident related to Phu Tho Club will be reported to the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for handling in accordance with the provisions of the Disciplinary Regulations.

Notices have also been sent to the units, clubs/teams, supervisors and referees to coordinate in making necessary adjustments related to this change.

This is a serious incident in the effort to strengthen the fight against corruption in Vietnamese football, showing the increasingly close coordination between VFF and FIFA in protecting the transparency and fairness of tournaments.
