Quang Hai and his teammates are at a standstill.

In the first half, CAHN FC easily dominated the match thanks to their superior squad quality. They controlled the ball up to 60%. However, the visiting team's attacking players lacked coordination, resulting in few dangerous opportunities. The most notable moment didn't occur until the 38th minute. Following an attack down the right wing, Leo Artur unleashed a powerful shot that hit the crossbar of the TP.HCM goal. Goalkeeper Patrik Lê Giang managed a slight touch.

The remaining opportunities for CAHN FC mainly came from set pieces or throw-ins by Nguyen Dinh Bac. Playing relatively deep and as a central midfielder, Quang Hai also posed no threat to TP.HCM FC. Other players like Phan Van Duc and Vu Van Thanh were also lackluster.

Meanwhile, the counter-attacks created by Ho Chi Minh City FC lacked the sharpness to trouble goalkeeper Nguyen Filip. Therefore, the first half ended without any goals being scored.

Dinh Bac, along with other attacking stars of CAHN Club, struggled against the aggressive and pressing style of play from TP.HCM Club. Behind them was fourth official Tran Ngoc Nho.

Ho Chi Minh City FC ends its "drought"

At the start of the second half, Ho Chi Minh City FC unexpectedly played better, creating numerous dangerous opportunities. Endrick and Doan Hai Quan successively took shots that were dangerous but lacked a bit of accuracy. However, thanks to these attacking situations, the home team's morale improved significantly.

Then, in the 57th minute, Ho Chi Minh City FC scored the opening goal. From a rapid counter-attack, Phan Nhat Thanh Long unleashed a shot inside the penalty area. The ball deflected off Giap Tuan Duong's foot, finding its way to Erik Sorga, who easily headed it into the net from close range, giving the home team the lead. This was Ho Chi Minh City FC's first goal in 7 matches and Sorga's first goal in 8 matches.

Ngoc Long scored a spectacular goal against his former team.

From this point on, CAHN Club pressed forward in attack to find an equalizer. In the 65th minute, they brought the game back to a tie thanks to a moment of brilliance from Leo Artur. The Brazilian striker unleashed a powerful shot with the outside of his foot, giving Patrik Le Giang no chance to save it.

But just 5 minutes later, Ho Chi Minh City FC regained the lead. In the 70th minute, Bui Ngoc Long surprised everyone with a spectacular shot from a very tight angle, increasing the score to 2-1 for Ho Chi Minh City FC.

Subsequently, coach Alexandre Polking made a series of substitutions to improve CAHN's attacking capabilities. They created several dangerous opportunities, but goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang made excellent saves. CAHN also failed to capitalize on the lengthy 8 minutes of added time to equalize, as they were reduced to 10 men from the 90+2 minute onwards, after Nguyen Trong Long received a red card.

Therefore, CAHN Club accepted a 1-2 defeat, marking their second consecutive loss (they lost 0-1 to HAGL in round 7). With this result, TP.HCM Club climbed to 10th place with 10 points, while CAHN Club remained with only 11 points and was pushed down to 8th place in the V-League 2024-2025 standings.
