Nestled amidst lush green hills, the small road leading to Tha village winds through rice paddies that have turned golden in the early morning sun. The thatched-roof houses nestled neatly beside the fields add a warm splash of color to this peaceful rural landscape. Visiting Tha village at this time of year, tourists can experience the peaceful countryside, participate in harvesting rice on the terraced fields, and immerse themselves in the tranquil life, enjoy local specialties, and listen to the mysterious, melodious, and soothing Then folk songs. Besides its beautiful rice fields, Tha village also preserves many traditional cultural values of the Tay ethnic group, including Then singing, which carries a profound philosophy of life . Ms. Nguyen Thi Ung, 50 years old, a resident of Tha village, shared that for generations, the people here have used spring water for daily life. Therefore, the spring water here is very important, serving as the source of the soul and culture of the people of Tha village.
The "source of life" from Tay Con Linh has shaped the people of Tha village into honest, kind, and hardworking individuals. These characteristics have created a tranquil atmosphere; visiting this place feels as if everything slows down. Upon entering the village, visitors can easily encounter scenes of locals diligently working in the fields, above their traditional stilt houses with thatched palm roofs. The yellowish-green color of the rice paddies contrasts with the gray of the thatched houses, creating a surprisingly slow-paced and peaceful atmosphere. According to Ms. Ung and many villagers, stilt houses are not only places to live but also symbols of community solidarity. Whenever a family builds a house, the whole village pitches in; some contribute labor, others contribute materials, combined with the skillful hands of experienced carpenters in the village to create sturdy homes. According to a representative from the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Ha Giang 1 ward, Tha village received the ASEAN Homestay Award in January 2025 for its community-based accommodation model that preserves the local identity. This award was presented by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) within the framework of the Southeast Asian Tourism Forum.
