Dak Lak: A teacher in Buon Ma Thuot City slapped a student twice in the face after suspecting him of using documents during a Geography test.
On May 18, Mr. Vo Van Hang, Vice Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School, said the incident happened on May 9, during the second semester Geography exam for 8th graders.
Camera footage shows a male student sitting at the front desk looking down at a piece of paper pulled out of his pocket, showing signs of document use. The female teacher discovered it, went down, and slapped the male student twice on the cheek.
The student later told her parents about the incident and the family filed a complaint against the person who beat her. However, according to Mr. Hang, when the school asked the female teacher to come to the student’s house to apologize, she refused to admit it.
"The teacher's above behavior is a violation of teacher ethics," Mr. Hang said, adding that he is waiting for further verification results to report to superiors for handling.
School camera recorded the scene of teacher slapping male student.
According to current regulations, junior high school teachers are civil servants under the management of the district-level People's Committee. If they violate the law, depending on the severity, they will receive one of four forms of disciplinary action, including: reprimand, warning, dismissal, and forced resignation.
