In Dak Lak , a teacher in Buon Ma Thuot city slapped a student twice in the face for allegedly using unauthorized materials during a Geography test.
On May 18th, Mr. Vo Van Hang, Deputy Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School, stated that the incident occurred on May 9th, during the second semester geography exam for 8th graders.
CCTV footage shows the male student sitting at the front desk bending down to look at a piece of paper he pulled from his pocket, indicating he was using unauthorized material. The female teacher noticed this, walked down to the front, and slapped the student twice on the cheek.
The child later recounted the incident to her parents, and the family filed a complaint against the person who hit her. However, according to Mr. Hang, when the school asked the female teacher to go to the student's home to apologize, she denied it.
"The teacher's behavior is a violation of teaching ethics," Mr. Hang said, adding that he is awaiting further verification results before reporting to his superiors for appropriate action.
The school's camera recorded the scene of the teacher slapping the male student.
According to current regulations, secondary school teachers are civil servants under the management of the district-level People's Committee. If they violate regulations, depending on the severity, they may face one of four disciplinary measures: reprimand, warning, demotion, or dismissal.
