Originating in the 1960s, color blocking became a prominent trend in the fashion world, thanks to pioneering designers like Yves Saint Laurent and Sonia Rykiel. They found beauty in simplicity, in boldly combining contrasting colors without fear of being considered too "visually cluttered." Continuously since then, in different fashion seasons, it has always created a certain "craze," thanks to its strength and vibrant spirit...
According to stylist Hoài An (Zinble studio), color blocking is a fashion trend that clearly reflects the personality and spirit of the wearer. Depending on how it's applied, it creates many different and interesting "vibes".
For example, in vintage style, combining color blocks looks very eye-catching. As for modern styles, young people with strong personalities can create distinct contrasts, producing a unique visual effect.

In contrast to safe trends from traditional fashion, color blocking appeals to fashion enthusiasts who dare to experiment and assert their unique style… whether it’s modern or classic attire.

In the spirit of painting, the beauty of the modernized Vietnamese traditional costume seems more contemporary and, importantly, clearly reveals the wearer's unique fashion personality.

Art and personality in the color block trend
"For any outfit, besides the technical design, color is the most important highlight. In the color block style, it can be understood as combining 'blocks' of various colors and shapes, using methods of transitioning color shades (dark and light, bright and dark...) to create interesting color blocks," stylist Hoài An explains.
In the fall/winter fashion season, color blocking not only appeared on the runways but also strongly featured in everyday wear, creating outfits that were both warm and vibrant, showcasing individuality.
Whether it's dresses, modernized ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), or accessories like earrings, scarves, and shoes, contrasting color combinations are used to highlight artistic beauty, making fashionistas the center of attention and boosting their confidence in their striking appearance.

Contrasting colors, from red and green, black and white, silver, or yellow and purple... are all intentionally combined in each design.

Color blocking not only reflects the wearer's personality but, in a way, represents a strong attitude towards life and a willingness to express oneself.

Color blocking: the essence of creativity and individuality.
The color block trend and style in the fashion world is not just a reinterpretation of various fashion periods, but also represents a step forward that reflects innovation in how we perceive fashion.
Color blocking is a combination of colors, but it also symbolizes freedom, creativity, and belief in individuality. Fashion enthusiasts who love color blocking are those who are not afraid to express themselves, dare to experiment, and explore new limits in style...
According to stylist Hoài An, the contrasting color pairs on the color wheel are predetermined, but their application varies not only across different fashion cultures but also among individual personalities, fashion enthusiasts, and designers. Therefore, they are incredibly diverse, stimulating exciting exploration.

Color blocking is not simply about randomly combining colors; it's an art of coordinating design elements—from materials and shapes to color combinations—to create contrasting, striking accents within a harmonious yet impressive overall effect.

A design style full of contradictions, yet offering an elegant and unique beauty thanks to the bold blend of colors and patterns.

The perfect blend of elegance and flair – the sophisticated deep blue velvet dress is combined with vibrant lemon yellow, creating a style that is both refined and striking.

The interplay of contrasts – the asymmetrical top combines two vibrant shades of green and black, contrasting in velvet and lace materials, creating a unique and captivating overall look.
