Police in three districts of Ho Chi Minh City have cracked three major drug trafficking cases.

On May 22nd, a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Police Staff Department announced that the police forces of Go Vap, Tan Phu, and Tan Binh districts had recently uncovered and dismantled three drug-related cases, seizing over 60 kg of various types of drugs.

Specifically, in March 2024, the Go Vap District Police discovered locations where illegal drug use was organized by Dinh Van Tu Anh. From there, the Go Vap District Police expanded their investigation, dismantling a drug trafficking, transportation, and use ring operating across provinces and districts, with international connections, seizing 17 kg of various types of drugs.

The drugs were hidden in food containers.

Continuing their investigation into the source of the drugs supplied to Dinh Van Tu Anh, the Go Vap District Police discovered, arrested, and conducted an urgent search of the residences and drug storage facilities of two related individuals, seizing nearly 20 kg of various types of drugs and 25,000 ecstasy pills. These drugs and ecstasy pills were disguised and hidden in food containers.

Recognizing the nature and scale of the drug trafficking ring's operations, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's leadership directed the Go Vap District Police to coordinate with other professional units of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department to expand the investigation, resulting in the seizure of nearly 1.4 kg of various types of drugs.

At the same time, the Tan Phu District Police dismantled four branches and five sub-branches of another illegal drug trafficking ring. The evidence seized in this case included nearly 3.81 kg of various types of drugs, three homemade firearms with features similar to military weapons, and other related items.

Ho Chi Minh City police seize dozens of kilograms of drugs.

During the same period, the Tan Binh District Police dismantled 5 branches and 5 sub-branches involved in drug trafficking, seizing 21.5 kg of various types of drugs, 1 hand grenade, 2 homemade guns, 7 bullets, and many other related pieces of evidence.

To date, the police in the three aforementioned districts have prosecuted 61 defendants for various offenses including illegal possession of narcotics, illegal trafficking of narcotics, organizing the illegal use of narcotics, and illegal possession of military weapons, and have issued administrative penalties to 14 people for illegal use of narcotics.
