Police of 3 districts in Ho Chi Minh City broke 3 drug cases

On May 22, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Staff Department said that the Go Vap, Tan Phu and Tan Binh District Police had just discovered and dismantled three drug-related cases, thereby seizing more than 60 kg of various types of drugs.

Specifically, in March 2024, Go Vap District Police discovered illegal drug use venues organized by Dinh Van Tu Anh. From there, Go Vap District Police expanded the investigation, dismantled a drug trafficking, transportation, and illegal use ring operating between provinces and districts, with foreign elements, and seized 17 kg of various drugs.

Drugs hidden in food boxes

Continuing to expand the investigation and trace the source of drugs supplied to Dinh Van Tu Anh, Go Vap District Police discovered, arrested, and urgently searched the residence and drug storage of 2 related people, seizing nearly 20 kg of various drugs and 25,000 ecstasy pills. These drugs and ecstasy pills were disguised and hidden in food boxes.

Realizing the nature and scale of the organization's activities, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department directed the Go Vap District Police to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City Police's professional units to expand the investigation and seize nearly 1.4 kg of various types of drugs.

At the same time, Tan Phu District Police dismantled 4 branches and 5 sub-branches of another illegal drug trafficking ring. The seized evidence in this case was nearly 3.81 kg of various drugs, 3 homemade guns with similar features to military weapons and many related evidences.

Ho Chi Minh City police seized dozens of kilograms of drugs

Also during this time, Tan Binh District Police destroyed 5 branches and 5 "lower" branches of drug consumption, confiscating 21.5 kg of various drugs, 1 grenade, 2 homemade guns, 7 bullets and many other related evidences.

To date, the police of the three districts have prosecuted 61 defendants for illegal possession of drugs, illegal trading of drugs, organizing illegal use of drugs, storing military weapons, and administratively sanctioned 14 people for illegal use of drugs.
