At the police station, Tr. said he received a phone call claiming to be a warehouse employee, then redirected the victim to connect to Zalo with another number named "Nguyen Van A".
Tr. was required to go to a quiet hotel to work and absolutely not tell anyone else about this.
When connecting via Zalo, this group immediately used fake images of police and handcuffed people to threaten and accuse Tr. of being involved in drug trafficking and money laundering .
After entering the hotel room, Tr. continued to interact with "Nguyen Van A" and the subject asked Tr. to log into the Zoom app, enter a chat room with a person with the nickname "investigator" and required Tr. to have a balance of 150 million VND to prove that Tr. is a person with conditions and does not have to participate in criminal activities to make money.
The subject enticed him to transfer the money to the account designated by "Nguyen Van A" when he had enough 150 million VND, and then check and return it. Tr. texted many friends and relatives to borrow money. Tr. also texted his family saying he needed 150 million VND to apply to study in Germany and that he needed to transfer the money immediately.

After 90 minutes of successfully rescuing the male student, Thanh My Tay Ward Police handed Tr. over to his relatives. The whole family was very moved and happy and wrote a letter of thanks to Thanh My Tay Ward Police.
Recently, in Ho Chi Minh City, there have been many cases of online kidnapping and property fraud. The method of the subjects is to call people and inform them that they are related to drug crime organizations or transnational money laundering.
The subject then asked people to connect to Zalo and Zoom to turn on the phone camera mode to see the police arresting criminals, then concluded that the people were involved in the crime and asked to transfer money to the subject's account. The amount of money appropriated ranged from several hundred million to several billion VND.
In particular, there are many cases where when people do not transfer money, the subject takes over the people's social network to contact their relatives to demand ransom. There have been cases where people have been controlled and detained by the subject to demand ransom.
Thanh My Tay Ward Police (Ho Chi Minh City Police) warned people to be extremely careful and not to follow the subject's requests. Stay calm and immediately report to your family and the nearest police station.
