First Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan - A dedicated Company officer

In 2021, after 4 years of studying at the 2nd Army Officer School, the young officer from Lam Dong returned to take up his duties at Battalion 15, Division 5. Because his station was far from home, each time he went on leave, Thuan only visited his family for a short time and then arranged to return to his unit to continue his duties.

Senior Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan and his teammates participated in the competition and filming of Military Region 1 Program.

Senior Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan, Deputy Captain of Company 1, Battalion 15, Division 5, recalled: “In July 2025, while I was participating in the Military Region 1 Program in Binh Dinh Province (old), I received bad news: My mother had a traffic accident, my father fell and hit his head on a rock, leading to a brain hemorrhage. I was worried, but I told myself to stay calm, overcome the difficulties, and be determined to complete the assigned tasks with my teammates. During this time, I felt more confident thanks to my comrades and teammates asking, caring, and encouraging me. After completing the task and returning to the unit, my superior gave me leave to visit my family.”

As Deputy Company Commander, Dinh Thuan is always exemplary, proactive, and a pioneer in carrying out the unit's common tasks; good at his profession, dedicated, and responsible to his comrades and teammates. In training, Senior Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan closely follows the plan, has a firm grasp of the troops' situation, and is flexible in his teaching methods. For difficult content that requires high technical skills, he directly guides and "holds the hand" until the soldiers grasp and practice proficiently. Thanks to that, the Company's training quality is always stable, with many contents achieving good and excellent grades.

In daily life and work, he is very close to soldiers; regularly shares, promptly grasps their thoughts and aspirations to support, remove obstacles and difficulties, and encourage comrades and teammates to overcome difficulties and perform well all assigned tasks.

In 2023, the solution "Improved Infantry Squad Trigger Lock" by Thuan and his teammates was accepted by the Military Region's Innovation Council and certified as a type C technical innovation initiative at the Military Region 7 Engineering Industry level. Since then, the Project has been effectively implemented, contributing to improving the overall quality of operations in all aspects of the unit and is assessed to have the potential to be replicated throughout the army.

In addition to professional work, Senior Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan has also done well in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, in conjunction with implementing the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period. Dinh Thuan also actively advises the unit commander in building a regular order, training discipline and improving the spiritual life of soldiers.

With the results achieved in work, for three consecutive years (from 2022-2024), Senior Lieutenant Nghiem Dinh Thuan was recognized by Division 5 for excellently completing his tasks; achieved the title of basic emulation fighter and was honored to be selected as a typical face to report achievements and speak at the Division's emulation congress for victory in the period 2019-2024. In 2025, Dinh Thuan was honored to be awarded the title "Emulation Fighter of the Whole Army" by the Minister of National Defense./.
